Ok, this has got to be the weirdest cross I've seen in a while but I like.
http://www.horsemart.co.uk/AdvertRef/HM9...HorseDetail.asp

They're blatently in a bit of a "ugly" baby stage atm but our baby percherons are still a bit.... funny shaped and they're only 3 and 4. I think £1500 more be a better price but I defo would like, chuck em out for a year and get them under harness later then saddle. Opinions?

(edt to correct terrible "their" mistake!

way too tired tonight!)

I'd bet that given three or four more years they'd blossom into handsome big chunky beasts.

I am inclined to agree with you, £3000 for the pair to go together and eventually become a driving pair.

not wanting to poke the hornets nest with a sharp stick but, just because its part percheron doesnt mean it was 'saved' from a fattening farm in france, or bred for meat in this country,

seems like a decent cross for a driving horse, IMO

beacuse they look like the same type of horses that are on all the french rescue site. plus it's a trade ad so i bet they are importing meat horses.

lol, yeah scroogie is brabant x boulanise! lol

I think everyone's a bit over sensitve to the meat thing atm, the advertiser only has one other ad and they are handled and lunging at 2. I think its unlikely they're meat horses. They are nothing like scrooge who is a meat horse.

I wouldn't lunge a 2yr old regularly but it is a usful handling skill for diagnosing lames and showing off to prospective buyers. Saying that I don't really lunge anyway... longling is a million times better and less boring! lol

Its a hell of an assumption to make, that they are meat horses!
Just because they are young, chunky and hairy!

It used to be quite a common cross years ago, they usually mature into lovely big heavy weight hunter types......

My favourite is the Norman Cob, Andy cross Perch - yummy beasties!
