Tried to get some nice pictures of Frodo on Dec 31 (I even put pretty white bandages on) but my plan failed miserably

We discovered that our camera is really rubbish with indoor action shots. These are the only 'visible' ones out of 100+!

And the day before, showing him our German flat

How cool is it to walk home with your horse?

Now, before people shoot me, I KNOW he is behind the vertical in some pictures. This is neither deliberate nor overlooked... it really is simply a question of the picture being taken at a 'bad' or very bad moment (he is 4, contact not wholly established yet, though it is actually very very good for a baby.) In different circumstances I would have just deleted the photos but sadly 95% of the album really is too blurred to see anything, so I have to make do with the very few 'good' ones. Ah, when I say 'blurred', I mean virtually transparent

Wow he is lovely looks a lot stronger than a 4 yo (compliment not detriment i promise
smile.gif
) He's a credit to you. Plus horses are beasts to get a nice photo off mine sense's the camera's shutter going and turns in to a lama with donkey ears sigh
I kinda like the blurry pic's they r fun in a quirky way

Lol Baydale, I WISH! I have never been inside a heated arena, only heard about them... sometimes I think they only exist in fairytales
blush.gif

No, it's a freezing cold arena. But the outdoor arena currently looks like this, so not much use (though I did wonder whether working in fetlock-high snow might actually improve the paces...a bit like water treadmills?

Tink sorry missed your post, we must have posted at the same time. Yes I know what you mean, he is becoming a little tank. I do hope that, as he puts more muscle on, he doesn't become too much for me
blush.gif

He's so gorgeous- can I swap a grumpy 26year old who goes lame when I trot down a centre line for him? I think that would be fair (although I couldn't ride one side of him!)...

Geeky question- is he named for Lord of the Rings, or because its a very cool name?

I blame TarrSteps for telling us all about the fancy Canadian ones with heaters.

Good thinking re using the outdoor to improve his paces; he might even give you a suggestion of piaffe.
wink.gif
When I rode in snow on ours they all either shot off or bucked every time the snow hit their tummies.

Lol NoSurrender, of course you could ride him
smile.gif
If I can anyone can!

I didn't choose his name; his breeder's daughter was a big fan of the Lord of the Rings so named him Frodo Beutlin (which is the German translation for Frodo Baggins, she had no idea that in the original book Frodo's surname is actually Baggins! She thought it was Beutlin everywhere
grin.gif
)

I am not a big Tolkien fan to be honest and when I went to register him with the German Federation I was determined to call him Fortinbras (lovely Shakespearean name), but when it came to saying it I just couldn't and kept Frodo Beutlin.

Well, come to think of it, I've only ever heard of heated arenas from my Canadian friend. I am beginning to think it's a Canadian ploy to make us all move to Canada

I love Frodo, he is such a stunner...and I'm always jealous of the pics of your schools!!

He looks like we's working really well, I just wish I could get The Welsh Cob to stretch more like that through his neck!!

How is he bred? Hes gorgeous, and looks fantastic for a 4year old
smile.gif
Is he 4 this year or rising 5 now?

(Sorry if youve posted this before but i dont come on here much anymore so tend to miss out on things!)

Oh and please can i have your whippet?!!? Mine would love to play with yours im sure!!!!

He is rising 5, but he was backed late for German standards (backed last February). He is a Bavarian warmblood by Feuerglut (unknown Bavarian stallion) x Bartholdy (whom I love and the main reason why we went to see him as a 2 year old in the first place, the other reason being that he looked unbearably cute on his breeder's website:

he's stunning and

at baby frodo
grin.gif

he looks so much more established than a baby (in a good way
smile.gif
)- i think he's going to have SO much presence when he's older (he has lots already
