From another thread; what's the best/ funniest name you have ever heard?

When I got my pony she came from a lady called Sandra and the pony's name is Sandra too! I couldn't leave the poor thing with a name like that, so she is now known as Sandy.

I had a horse called Useless (he wasn't actually), and a friend purposely named his horse Business so that his Secretary could tell people that he was out on business, the same person also named his three labradors Fire, Help and Taxi just because it amused him to yell their names.

:D;):p

I'm loving this thread just started uncontrolably laughing and had to explain to my boss why and the bes ti could manage was top point at my screen!
Makes me realsie my poor horse has a sane name Niolah, though her pet name is pudding
One of the yards i worked at as a kid i had a Bianca and a Barbra and i refused to go down the paddock yelling those names at the top of my voice so they became B and Babs!
My dog with the goregous name dakota wolf had the unfortuanteness as forever being known as stinky after too one to many swims in the canal
I also rode a pony on holiday called smokey bandit who constantly farted whilst walking along childish i know but i laughed the whole time my sides hurt when i go back

Ok, mine arent really funny names but I wanted to join in so...

My mum once named one of her cats "Pest"..because he was!

My Mum also used to have a horse called Roamer who used to rear up and walk on his hind legs with you on him.

Me and a friend also used to joke about owning a pub and calling it the corner shop so that you could say "just popping to the corner shop"

oh and we used to have a pony on our yard called "Bullet" as he was rescued from the meat man at Southall Market many moons ago.

Several years ago there was a horse on the eventing circuit in the south called "Hoof Hearted". Caught the commentators out regularly!
When I bought my (Irish) horse last year I only knew his stable name. When I picked him up and looked at the passport I was a little taken aback to see that his registered name is "Quick Paddy". A few months further on and I now realise how apt this is.....

the best name ever i knew was Clanger, who was sired by the mare's houdini-ish colt (hmm, bit of accidental incest there) and the colt was called Soupdragon. So, the mare dropped a Clanger. (anyone who knows their childrens' cartoons will recognise the link between the soupdragon and clangers...!)
brilliant bit of naming there.

I'm sure Daddy's Overdraft came to a couple of our pony club shows a few years ago.....my small 10 year old is now jumping my cob as well as her pony, the first time I let her out in public on her I entered her as Mother Should Know Better and its just sort of stuck on her now!

There is a Daddys overdraft local to me.

Recently I received a hunter trial entry for a horse called princess yum yum!?!?!

I also know someone who's horse is called Himself. Which is quite funny over the tannoy with a male rider!!!

My horse is called Pilib which is the Irish version of Philip so I am often heard saying in my best Queen voice 'come along Philip, we're going for a ride'

There was a horse at the local show whos show name was 'Rollajoint' Although I think this was also the name of a racehorse? but not sure.

I remember a racehorse called Roll A Joint, think it won a Scottish Grand National...

I've met many horses and ponies with human names, including my own bhoy - rather embarrassingly I know/am related to 3 men with that name :o

Comes in handy when I need to pretend I have a BF tho'!! :D:D

My boys are called Big Cob and Little Cob...cos that's what they are!!:D BC and LC for short...it's not the names that are on their passports but it's what they are known as. I'm hoping to get a section A soon as a companion (if the land I'm hoping to get works out) and that will be called something equally discriptive..anything like most section A's he'll be known as Little Sod no doubt.:D

I always wanted to call my horse The Game or The Pill just so show secretaries would announce.

Here comes RebelRebel on the game
Here comes RebelRebel on the pill

It was a few years ago so I can be forgiven for being childish :o

We had a pony called Toad...we bought him off the breeder and she asked us not to change it.

I also know a horse called Dyson (because he eats everything), an enormous warmblood called Foaly, a big grey gelding called mozzarella and a big bay gelding called Patsy!

My friends old jumping horse was called Mustang On, that was a good one!! He used to win everything you literally just had to steer!!!

I used to know a horse called Wellie too!
My favourite one has to be a horse called Foal. He's not a foal any more (4) but its funny seeing the confusion and sometimes horror when we say things like 'oh so and so rode the Foal yesterday'!

My sister rides a horse called Foalie. He's now 23 so its quite amusing when we enter him in a veteran class as Foalie.

Also, posted this before but, I knew someone who called their mare My Dear Fanny, just so he could hear... this is so and so riding My Dear Fanny.

I used to know a woman who rescued a pony from the sales. He was a lovely little palomino but she had never really had ponies before, only horses. Poor little soul had no name so she just called him pony! Eventually it stuck and he was Pony for the rest of his life!

My 1st ever pony was called Gladys.
My friends had a George, Joshua, Ben, Poppy, Jemima and Simone, my Mom said our livery yard sounded like an old folks home.

And another friend had a jumping horse called Silver Mist but it was a really heavy little cob and our friends mother could only remember it as London Fog which suited it better.

Love the idea of Daddy's overdraft and Divorce Settlement!!!

I'm sure Daddy's Overdraft came to a couple of our pony club shows a few years ago.....QUOTE]

Probably our Bluey, he has always been Coventry/Daventry/Rugby.

There's also a very well known games pony called DAVE, ridden by a chap called CHOC.... who have won everything going on an international level.

Could be Urban Myth but I did hear of someone who used to show a Horse called Avankar as in Here is X riding Avankar (you need to say it out loud!).

When I bought my Horse he was called Heart Breaker (not very inspiring!) so I changed his stable name to Nevada (Vardi for short) his showing name is now "Heartbreak in Nevada"
