Well as some of you may know i have been looking for a horse to share for some time now although have had absolutley no luck - it is really starting to get me down. I know it would take a long time but i had not planned for 6 months. Also what i still cant get over is how much people are asking - i have enquired about some who have then later said they are looking for £40 a week.

Im sorry but i am just a bit down .

I've been having a similar problem. Keep looking I guess. Everywhere you can think of tack shops, livery yards, and there's quite a few internet sites i check regularly as well.
I did enquire about one but they wanted more than i could afford and it was a little out of reach for me.
Good luck!

Sorry to hear you are down. It is a shame you are not closer as I now have 2 horses again and could do with financial and time contribution to the upkeep/exercise of my horses!

I am not sure how much sharers usually contribute, but I thought it depended how often you use/ride the horse. I know it costs me a fortune to run my horses - about £650 a month for 2 (so 375 each), so if I had a sharer who was coming 2 days a week to share one horse, that's 2/7 of the weekly amount for that horse. For a sharer for George, it would work out at about £10 a day! (£75 a week to keep the horse/7*2). That is how I would work it out, but I know some people ask their sharer to pay for shoes only or something along those lines. I guess it's expensive for people to keep horses (as you can see from my bills), so if they are going to allow someone to use the horse then they do have to charge, especially as we think a lot of our horses and are placing our trust in the sharer really. However, I think the person with the horse is also gaining because they have someone doing their horse and exercising their horse half of the time, for no charge and in actual face are getting paid for it!

I live in South Yorkshire and have been advertising for a sharer for about 8 months, hardly had any replies to adverts and I'm not even asking for any money, would just be happy with help keeping them fit. I need experienced riders and the only people who have been interested have been not confident or experienced. Typical!
