From box rest to out 24/7

My horse is coming home from the vets on Saturday
(Yay! )

My worry is.. He has been on box rest for the last 2 weeks just eating hay. He lives out 24/7 at home.

How can I introduce him back onto grazing 24/7 when I can't put him in a stable and do it slowly?

Would you you suggest haying the field for a few days so he doesn't go straight from all hay to all grass?

yes haying is a good idea. Is there any way you can fence off a small section of the field for him and gradually make it bigger?

He is on restricted grazing anyway so there isn't loads of grass, but I could certainly keep him in a smaller area to start with. Thank you.
