I am sitting here a bit shocked. We lost one of our beautiful Flatcoats on 28th April at the age of 7.10 with osteosarcoma. A week ago his 6 year old half brother went off his food and was a bit lethargic. Phoned vet - could be heat or a stomach bug - rice and chicken. Wasn't really interested so had blood tests which showed severe anaemia. Then scans and biopsy as scan showed spleen tumours - this was Thursday afternoon. Yesterday afternoon confirmed hemangiosarcoma which had metastasised so took him in at 5pm and he was pts.

They are buried next to each other in one of our fields.

I am numb.

BUT I am so honoured that we are able to do the best thing by our pets and give them a dignified end. They both may have gone on a few more days but that wasn't the best option for them.

After 5 Bernese Mountain Dogs who aren't known for their longevity and a border collie from a farm who lived until 15, my husband had always wanted a flattie. Ended up with two as you do. They both came from excellent lines.

We have always had dogs. Right now I can't envisage life with another one nor can I see myself without them. Hopefully the next ones will find us.

I am so sorry for your losses. We had to have one of our Rotts pts almost 2 yrs ago because of a splenetic tumour which had spread to her bowel. The first we knew about it was when she was sick all one night, we took her to the vet in the morning, they scanned her and opened her up but didn't bring her round from the op. Now her sister has a bladder tumour, for which we are giving palliative care and monitoring. We won't get another Rott pup but if an older one finds us, we won't turn it away. We have 2 almost 2 yr old Labs to keep the Rott company.

Oh help :( that is incredibly sad and unbelievably unlucky. I'm so, so sorry. My brother lost his GSD to haemangiosarcoma with mets to the spleen and liver and it takes them so fast. You haven't had time to organise your thoughts properly yet in any direction, and I just hope you find some way to fill the huge void they have left.

We have to be brave for them and take the hit, but as you say, that we can do this for them is a gift and heartbreak in one.

I am so sorry, what an awful shock for you. Like you I am a great believer in the saying "better a week too soon than a day too late", I hope knowing you did the best for them will help you a little.

I'm sure the right dog will find you when you are ready.

I am so very sorry to read this, it is hard enough losing one but both at once is so awfully hard to deal with.

We had the same thing last year. We lost our beautiful lab at just 6 years old and less than a month later her little Patterdale best buddy. The house was so heart breakingly empty without them. Go easy on yourself :( x

I’m so sorry, how incredibly unlucky to lose them both at the same time, and so young.
There is a dog out there that will fill the hole in your life x

That is dreadfully sad and I can't imagine how lost you must feel :( I am so sorry. I am glad that you know though that letting them go is a privelege that we have for those animals we love. How shattered you must be.

I'm so very sorry for your losses. Hopefully when the time is right another dog or dogs will have the opportunity to share your wonderful home

I’m so sorry to hear this, it’s devastating.

We’re currently having investigations done on pusscat, endoscopy on Tuesday, we’re very concerned. Not keen on eating (except crisps) and some coughing with blood.
