Anyone ever tried one for more control? I have been trying a canny collar (in addition to teaching the dog heel work) but Rua has learnt if she flicks her head up she can evade the action of it. I'm struggling to control her when we meet other dogs, she's big and strong too! We went to out first obedience class this week and she did do well but she concentrates better on me when were inside whereas the outside world is VERY exciting for a dog that spent the first 18 months of it's life left out the back of a house with no attention.

The only thing I've found works after 11 years is the sliplead twisted over the nose. I can walk my things with one finger now, they simply can't and don't pull. It's like a figure of eight headcollar but probably lots cheaper!

The only thing that works for my Doberman x Weimaraner is a dogmatic head collar he cannot remove it and he cannot evade and he is the master of escaping or throwing his shoulders into so I lose all control. Can on,y be bought online and you need to measure your dog and it's made to measure

I've had lots of success with harnesses, I know some people hate them and roll their eyes when I suggest them!!

If you hook the lead onto the back you do run the risk of your dog suddenly realising she can use her ENTIRE body weight against you! But the front attachments are great, I've used them mostly on bull breeds and never had a problem... (yet).

Thanks for your help everyone. I tried a front leading Halti at the weekend which Rua responded well to but the fit is dreadful and it moves too easily so I've ordered the Perfect Fit harness (in purple) I found the charts a bit daunting but finally settled on one so can't wait to try it!
CT, I tried that method and had one very unhappy Rua on my hands.

I've ordered a red one for my cockapoo, he's not been walking too well so hopefully this harness will help. They actually had cockerpoo on the list which helped.
