Looking at buying a yearling that has one front leg turned out at the fetlock. It moves straight but when standing one toe is noticeably turned out. Should I look elsewhere?

it depends what job you intend him/her to do, mostly. i'd expect it to be reflected in the price too, and be guided by your farrier and vet.

Very sound advice!

I want to do all riding club activities and maybe low level eventing eventually. Just wondering if it'd be really daft to buy something that has an obvious problem already.

My now 3 year old had something very similar ....But with corrective remedial work she straightened and has never looked behind her .

She moves very straight now , was placed at county level in showing .

Depending on how much you like the animal ....Then possibly worth a look with your vet or farrier ...again depending on how bad the "turning out" is

I understand that corrective farriery can straighten things up in a young horse, any experts out there?

Conversation with my vet and farrier re a pigeon toed 4yo - stay away if more than slight, but if very young it can be corrected as the bones have not yet fully formed. So, in this case, talk to your vet and farrier to see if anything can be done, as horsey is still v young. Good luck!

And if positive, would still expect some reflection in the valuation before you buy.
