Neurotic mum here! Small pony in fast work tripped at a fence on Thursday and has since had this raised ‘vein’? Round the back of the front cannon bone about mid way but slightly closer to the fetlock.
He is sound, no heat or swelling other than the ‘vein’ itself. No reaction when touched.

I have been cold treating, bute has made no difference. It literally runs slightly diagonal from the bone and dips round the back of the cannon bone

Any thoughts - need to resize picture to add.

nothing.

sound as a pound even on small/hard circle and no other heat or swelling simply a very pronounced vein
Interesting- vet has just checked and said it’s definitely a blood vessel that’s branched. Perfectly sound.
What was your treatment plan?

we decided rather than try to rush him back to work he could just have time.

so he had a full year off, was out in field covering mares, and then did 12 weeks walking before any trot.

the SDFT is 100% now, ironically he then got cast and damaged another leg whilst rehabbing so had a further 6 months off but is now totally sound and back in full work (albeit reduced intensity so previously he was training adv med dressage and now is concentrating on showing as its easier, big circles no collection etc)

for the small amount of £££i would honestly get the leg scanned top to bottom.

Gosh you had fun there! Yes I think im
Going to take him in for a scan just to be sure, my vet is confident it’s nothing more and the scan will just confirm what he has said but it’s driving me crazy lol
