The home of businessman Christopher Foster, his wife Jill and their 15-year-old daughter Kirstie was reduced to blackened rubble after a fire was started deliberately in at least three areas of the Shropshire estate.

The three family members have not been seen since Tuesday's blaze and it is feared they may have died inside the property.

West Mercia Constabulary said its forensic teams were finally able to move into the main section of the destroyed house yesterday afternoon after securing loose debris.

Superintendent Gary Higgins said: "We can confirm that two bodies were recovered last night from the main part of Osbaston House, Maesbrook.

"The remains will be examined by a Home Office pathologist and post mortems are due to be carried out later today to establish the cause of death."

Supt Gary Higgins added "every possible scenario" behind the fire was being considered while investigators followed up all lines of inquiry.

It could take several weeks for the teams to comb the remains of the mansion, he said.

Police also intend to look at the internet trail left by Kirstie Foster, following reports that she had been chatting with friends online in the hours before the arson attack.

The Fosters were last seen at a friend's barbecue on Monday before returning to their home later that evening.

A man who knew Mr Foster said he feared his former business associate may have "just flipped".

Terence Baines, the former director of Mr Foster's company Ulva Ltd, said: "It's anyone's guess, but it seems that the people he owed money to are big companies and I can't see them behind something like this."

Detectives have refused to comment on reports that bullet cartridges and pools of blood were found in the courtyard.

So tragic whatever happened such a young life appears to have been taken away. There are no words that can describe this terrible event.

I was so hoping that they would not find any bodies.

Absolutly discusting and so very very tragic.
I really do hope they find a third body because the thought that people did it for revenge is so much better than the thought that the father did it out of desperation. IMO

I can only hope in a perverse kind of way that the bodys are of the mother and daughter if it is an outside person that has done this then heaven knows what they are capable of..

This is really sad.

also very confusing with so many incorrect/different reports.

My OH came in last night and said

'did you hear about the horses that were shot at the house that burnt down?'

I said the werent shot as there were graphic pics of them in their burnt out stables....You try moving a dead horse from a court yard to a stable. Also he didnt know about the horsebox with slashed tyres blocking the emergency services (not sure if thats even true as Ive not seen or heard an actual report)

But he said that the Bloke (Mr.Foster) owed the bank £1Mil and the Taxman £800K.

Its not looking good but I am probably the only one who thinks its an inside job. It just looks so suspicious.

*waits to get shot down*

Nah it was deffo all done by the husband IMO, TBH there is really no other explanation.

The horses WERE shot in their stables then the whole block/garage set on fire - another horse elsewhere was also shot and burnt

It has been speculated that the 2 pools of blood from the courtyard were from the dogs, who were then dragged into the house. The reports of the horsebox blocking entry is true if the news sources are anything to go by, plus the house was barricaded from the inside.

Mr Foster had been witnessed to brag that he wouldn't leave anything behind for liquidators, and that is the boast that leads me to believe that it was him, and him alone, that orchestrated this whole terrible mess

You may well be right Weezy - the only question remaining then, did he make the ultimate sacrifice with his family - or is he now sunning himself on a beach somewhere a long way away with a new identity?

Its like something off or horror film, it really is terrible, I don't know what to think to it all, I can't believe someone would even go a far as killing the animals as well, like its not bad enough getting revenge by killing the wife and daughter which is of course tragic enough, so if it was revenge by some other individual (think he had a few enemies) then he must or worked/dealt with some very nasty pieces of work to go those lengths. Then if it was him, why not take his own life rather than his families and of course everything else, surely things couldnt of effected him to act so badly?

RIP all, I hope they get to the bottom off it all and find the truth, and justice is done.

It's just so sad to think if it was him, that he got so desperate that he couldn't think of any other way out. If he has killed himself and his family I wonder the humiliation of losing everything financially was just too much to cope with. I did read somewhere that his wife was blistfully unaware of the deep financial problems they were in. This seems a bit odd if she was the company secretary and I also read in the press the family hadn't had any income coming into the house for 6 months! They must have been living a fantastic lifestyle well above their means and maybe just got in so deep there was no other way out. Whatever happened that night it is so awful and tragic.

Bailiffs arrived that morning to start repossessing Mr Fosters belongings.

While I can understand his desperation and humiliation, we're talking about material possessions here, and there is absolutely NO excuse for taking the lives of his family and animals.

He was quite recently involved in a rather nasty court case where a judge slated him for his dishonesty, greed, and untrustworthiness.

It beggars belief that his financial situation came above the lives of his family.

If that's all true Dubble, I can understand and sympathise with his humilation and desperation. However, like you, I cannot fathom why "going out with a bang" and a determination to leave nothing of value for paying off creditors would rank higher than preserving his family's life.

By all means, top himself, if he couldn't face his future....but his wife and 15 year old daughter? Makes me shudder to think about it and what happened that awful night.

Horribly sad.
I can't help but wonder whether it may have been a crime of passion, considering that there was a fairly recent court case for blackmail.
Maybe that's my dark mind working overtime,.

Whatever the outcome, whoever perpetrated the crime, must have been seriously disturbed.
It's a tragic event for all involved.

It's all so sad, god knows what was going through the mind of whoever did it.

They all looked happy on that last photo at the BBQ and the lovely photos of the daughter with her horse

Have I just read somewhere that the wife, Jill Foster, had very recently (last months or weeks) inherited a large sum of money a deceased family member on her side. Amounting to enough to pay of the company bad debts and taxes?
