Maybe she had a lover and the husband's found out and has gone mad, killed the pets, her and the lover then snatched the girl and done a runner?

There are many things about this case that are mindboggling

But most of all, I just wonder what has happened to that poor girl...?

When I first read about this I instantly felt that it was the husband. People are capable of some really crazy things - just look at that canooist guy and his wife??

He may have felt that the humiliation of being ruined was to much to live with, and although it all seems mad to us, it probably made perfect sense for him.
