Hello,

My boy loves all kinds of fruit and veg in his feed - just wondered if anyone elses horse/pony did as well?

I had some fruit juice for myself at an event one day and he was insistent that he had some as well so he did and loved it.

I have seen him picking blackberries off the bushes. He loves plums and damsons, but he is very careful to spit the stones out.

His latest favourite is satsuma or any kind of orange, clementine etc.

He does not seem to keen on lettuce though!

Mine don't seem to like anything except the usual things (carrots, apples). They will eat broccoli stalks (when grown, ie. not the little tiny stalks on shop bought ones!) but wouldnt touch lettuce, grapes, oranges or bananas. Its harder with more than 1 horse because you have to give them all the same amount to be fair which then adds up!

My daughter gave the horse a satsuma one day that she had left in her lunch bag, think she was trying to get rid of it before I saw she hadn't eaten her fruit, horse loved it, skin and all!!

I do sound extravagant!!! No I don’t go out to buy him a variety of things! He normally gets the staple apples/carrots but if we have any veg peelings or fruit left over he has those. Also friends have plum trees and I have apple trees in the garden so he helps out with devouring those as well!

He likes broccoli and grapes too!

My dog joins in and he will eat anything the horse has, I think there is a bit of competition between those two!

My horse ate the skin of the satsuma as well, i normally peel it for him though.

Most of my horses love bananas, they like pears, parsnips, swede (but everyone knows that one) and my old JA pony was known to enjoy cabbage! My ex-racer however refuses to eat apple for some strange reason

My mare is a funny one. She has gone through long fazes of loving each of the following - bananas, cabbage, fresh mint, oranges/clematines and pears. With each one, She has suddenly decided one day that it wasn't to her taste and looked at me as if I was trying to poisen her

e.g. she loved cabbage for about one year. she had it as a twice a week treat. Then suddenly one day, she was deeply offended when I offered it to her ...

She also adored Blue chip bites for 3 years. Then one day it was like "thats not food, why are you offering me that"!!

We do still like carrots and apples, they seem to be perminent.
