Frustrated - feeling ready to move on, but can't find anything to go and see ...

I hate the time wasters thing too. I have driven for hours to look at a horse and when I arrived and the owner got on it was lame! Another one I tried just didn't feel right. If your spending a lot of money and investing years in something, it is important you make the right decision. Not buy something just because the owners will be annoyed if you don't. In the end I ended up with something bigger than I wanted, younger than I wanted and not the colour I really liked :) But I wouldn't swap him for the World now :)
 
Have you looked on the 'Hunter and Teamchase' section of HorseQuest? Sounds random, but there are some really really nice horses in that section who do do it all but seem to end up in there?

Also, there's a really sweet looking 15hh mare who is a bit older (12- not that old!) who is priced at £5250 and looks like the sort of superstar any mother would want- been cooing over her for days! She's in the BE Ponies section, or the Unaff Ponies (event ponies anyway!)...

I wanted a nice coloured horse (Black, white, coloured, dun, palomino etc..) with a lovely mane and tail, who was bomb proof, would hack alone and be basically ready for anything.

What did I find myself falling in love with?
Bay, awful mane (lovely tail though!), spooky and scatty, doesn't go out alone and is a complete lunatic!
I can't say I wouldn't change him for the world, because that's just what I am doing, I'm trying to change him and make him better!
I also can't tell you why I love him :P I just do!

Selling horses is a nightmare. When we sold the last one I got fed up with constant E mails- why can't they just ring and talk to the vendor. Then they want umpteen photos and videos and you just know it won't come to anything.
The person who bought the horse was on the telephone for ages asking loads of questions and we just knew she was genuine.
We now have a super talented 5 yr old for sale, but I expect we will be able to sell her by word of mouth as she has already caught the eye of many people,

Sadly I think it is - my son seems to grow taller every time I look at him and as he plays rugby and rows he is also beginning to bulk up a bit. :rolleyes:

I'll have a look at that section, thanks. As above I think 15 hh is a bit small and although 12 isn't old I would like something younger that still has plenty of potential to keep improving.

I'm sorry but from a buyer's perspective I think differently. Photos and videos are incredibly useful and surely better spending a few minutes sending them out than a few hours getting a horse ready and doing a viewing.

Totally agree with you, I've also been looking for months and a couple stick in my mind where I called the seller, had a long, in depth conversation and decided i was interested and then, because both horses were a 4 or 7 hour round trip away, asked for videos.

One seller just never sent them and then texted me asking if i still wanted to view. my response "If you were able to get some videos, that would be great, otherwise it is probably too far for me". no response from them, although they instantly readvertised.

The other seller (the 7 hour round trip) pointed me to some videos taken 9 months previously where the horse looked tense and not great. I asked if they had any more recent videos and she said "I haven't had time".

FGS with the cost of fuel these days I don't want to be trekking round the country to get there and find the creature can jump but goes round like a camel on the flat or something!!!!

I feel your pain OP!!

I spent three hours trying to upload my video onto youtube for someone after spending all day trotting in hand, up and down the road past traffic and schooling in the arena, shot of feet being picked up and being saddled and bridled. If you want to sell your horse and you want the right home, you should be prepared to put the effort in as i did. I had nine viewings and found a great home for my mare where she is really happy so it was worth it.
 
Well I've only had 2 calls about my horse, one said he wasn't big enough, 2nd person sounded lovely but they didn't want to travel 2 1/2 hrs, so haven't even had anyone out to see him, and trust me he is a decent horse!!! So I'd say travel!!!!.......

Good advice. You may have to compromise a bit. The best horse I ever had was an underweight irish thorougbred when I looked at him who cost me £1400. I found him after I had tried several 'better' ones. I had 7 happy years with him.
 
My mare that ive now had 7 yrs after many disasterous others, isn't as tall as i'd like, hasn't a long enough neck for me, has dinner plate feet that grow amazingly fast :-( and a few other faults but having had her this long, she knows what buttons she can press with me & vice versa, I have schooled her to a level of perfection for ME, we trust each other completely & i'd never sell her cos I love her to bits :D
