Frustrated - mouth keeps getting sore!

Hi all. I have posted about this before. My horse's mouth keeps getting cut and sore. He has been ridden in a hackamore for over 2 weeks to allow it to heal and I put a bit back in yesterday. This time I've tried a really thick snaffle and wrapped it in latex bit wrap. I vaseline up. Went for a gentle hack today (After putting bit back in yesterday) on a rather loose contact as I'm constantly aware of it cutting again. If I was galloping around pulling him in all dierctions I could understand this but am getting really frustrated now as I want to start his schooling but obviously can't as he's getting so sore! Any other suggestions welcomed - vet said not to use haemhorroid cream as it has steroid in it and over time that would actually thin the skin and be counter-productive.

Tincture of Myrrr (sp).
You can get it from the chemist, dilute with almond oil and dab on a couple of times a day.

Thank you! I just want to get on with it now as he's a little superstar and it's upsetting me knowing that I'm causing this uncomfort! Will send OH on the hunt tomorrow!

I found that happy mouth bits caused sores on Springy's mouth but that sweet iron, cyprium and steel are ok.

It really works. It helps to shrink the sores then toughens up the skin. I used it on my youngster for a few days just after introducing a bot as she got a little sore and i've not had a problem since!!!
