I'm an avid reader of the FHOTD blog, havent been on for a couple of days and just been on to have a catch up. The post yesterday with the photos, I feel sick. I cannot imagine the terror and the pain those horses went through.

Why, oh why are we still allowing live export?

For gosdsake, kill it and then transport it, or if you must transport it, regulate it.

Awful, sickening........

I agree with you 110%. Mairi.

I saw the pics and they were truly the most awful thing I've ever seen and believe me seen some horrific sights in my career. Can't believe this is still allowed to go on, abattoirs like Potters should be applauded for the work they do.

It is all gruesome and this isnt a one off. Very sad.

Yes we do need more abattoirs, when will people open their eyes and stop this madness.

That final journey should be one of peace and respect, not terror and torture like that. Talk about the final insult.......

I was very nearly physically sick when I saw those photos, I was going to post but seeing as most people on here know all about it all didn't think i'd inflict it on everyone. What about that bit a few posts down "12 circles of hell" I'm going to print it off and show it to anyone who trys to tell me a liverpool or buxton is harsh!

I do not think I can do it if its so graphic.

Is it a painful bit or a slaughter house or something?

I am a supporter of ship it on the hook not the hoof.

Only got so far on the horrific pics and closed the screen as i was too distressed :'(.....I was also very concerned about the new weaning device she reported on.

bloody hell, i've seen some real sights but these were truely awful. Those poor poor horses having to go through that. Fugly horse is good but a little narrow minded as she's anti all slaughter houses for horses in the usa, but rather favours euth clinics. I don't think this is the answer, and your better off with more smaller places like potters dealing with horses all round the country.

About the weaning device, PapaFrita/PrettiestFoal did a post about that FuglyHOTD blog in Breeding forum http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/sh...2&fpart=all

About FuglyHOTD's "You can't afford to ignore this issue" blog, when she ends with "Tell me that slaughter is necessary and the only way of dealing with overpopulation - since we can't possibly deal with it responsibly via gelding and euthanasia assistance programs. Yeah. Whatever."
I do disagree, I don't believe abattoirs are the only way of dealing with overpopulation, but I think it might be necessary to at least have some. Their way of beginning with banning all horse-slaughter in USA, doesn't seem to be working very well for the horses.

I dont think fugs is so much anti slaughter as anti method. And shipping them all the way to Mexico isnt a kind method at all. Yes euthanisia would be far kinder and stop breeding so many horses!

I think if they had slaughter houses in the US or if they transported by hook not hoof then it would be a different story.

I agree with a lot of what fugs says, not all, but then who agrees 100% with the views of someone else all the time

Thats horriffic.
They must be some shocking transporters.
Poor poor animals.
My two will never leave the farm after seeing that unless it's into a hole at the end of their lives on our ground.
Truly awful.
