Full chaps - recommendations & appropriate footwear!

Hi there,

Following on from the thread about whether you're a smart or scruffy rider(!) I'm a scruffy rider trying to smarten myself up Last winter I wore ski trousers pretty much every day. Lovely & toasty but hideous! So this year, I wanted to try something more sophisticated & have always fancied some leather/suede full chaps.

Sooooo... do you have any recommendations? I know some people have the Equino & the Prochaps look lovely albeit not exactly leather. Any thoughts?

Also, I splashed out on some Ariat Glaciers last year, which I love. However, I'm assuming you can't wear full chaps over long boots, yes..? In which case, what do you long chap-wearers do in the footwear department?!

Bought these latish last winter so can't tell you much about their lifespan but I can tell you they are comfortable AND fit over glaciers! Fit isn't hugely generous round the thighs but they are long and fit well around the waist with plenty of room for adjustment.

I wear neoprene ones in winter as they are super warm!!!! Just cheapie ones from Robinsons but have lasted five winters of use to keep my legs snug when hacking. But I am a scruff and don't mind appearing in neoprene...

I may have squealed when I saw them! I may also have squealed when I looked at the 'customers who viewed this also viewed' list and came across some rather racy gentlemen's clothing options! Good luck with your hunt xx
