Full Chaps

Has anyone good recommendations for full chaps?

My previous YO used to live in her custom made ones. Is it necessary to get made to measure to get the longevity and good quality or can you get that off the peg?

I like the look of the Regent Ranger Full Chaps but they are twice the price of the Mark Todd ones

Please help!

What should I be looking for

I would rather pay a little extra to get something good
 
The thing about full chaps is they have to fit you. Before buying you need to know your hip, thigh, hip to knee, calf and knee to ankle measurements. There are people in the UK who make custom fit chaps. Don't get Alcantara or fake suede, or split skin, none of them will last. It has to be chap leather whether suede or leather. Or you can get synthetic waterproof chaps. They are good but are never going to fit like they were made for you. Even with these, you need to know all your measurements before you buy.

Having said all that, look at Kitt Hugs Neoprene full chaps on Ebay, they look OK

I've got a pair of cheap and cheerful neoprene ones from Robinsons - and they are my favourite chaps ever - fit beautifully, lovely and warm, and I can hose them off when they get muddy!

I have these too - so warm for over jodhs in winter, and I use them in summer over my shorts when riding, then whip the chaps off for yard work and tanning ;) They fit well, have lasted me five years so far, and were I vaguely remember about £25 when I bought them then, not sure of current price...

Mine were about £8 in the sale two years ago! They came away from the waistband a bit, so I sewed them up with plaiting thread!

OMG, if I'd got them for £8 I'd have been laughing. My waistband has been really good - actually whole thing looks a bit muddy but otherwise great. I've also used them for winter shows for keeping jodhs clean etc... just so useful, and so much wear and still great.
 
Made to measure every time. I got mine from Equino chaps which are made in the UK. They look great, are incredibly warm and great in the rain and snow and are so comfortable to ride in. No reason why they shouldn't last me for years and years.
