Full Cheek Kind Snaffles

What full cheek snaffles do you all use? My boy is fairly young and quite sensitive in the mouth but equally can get a bit leany sometimes. I have him in a NS Verbindend Loose ring as thats what came off my last horse which he's been ok in but did get a bit leany and soemone recommended a full cheek and because he's unbalanced sometimes some steering help can be required!
I'm now trying him in a full cheek french link which he seems to be going really well in but before I buy a french link which i'm aware isn't dressage legal and until I can get to a bitting expert when he's more established I don't want to spend a fortune. I need something kind and fairly thin - he seems to prefer a thinner mouthpiece.

They are very thin which put me off (I also thought severe) but a bit fitting specialist advised me to try one on my wb. He has a big mouth but a ginormous tongue and there is just not much room in there. He goes nicely in it as it's more comfortable for him than a fatter supposedly milder bit.

I have a feeling a friend at the yard has one of these so may ask if I can try it - she had no idea what type of bit it was!
 
Stunners it depends which Myler bit you chose..nothing harsh about the one I use…the rolling tube which covers the joint prevents nutcracker action, there is a gentle curve at the sides and that’s it really.

do you have a photo of your bit? My friends i dont think has the curve at the side.

I do love the turtle tops! I had one on my TB and he went really well in it and my friend has just had one for her horse in a D ring. The turtle top was another bit i was considering but they aren't cheap!
 
Just been looking at the 2024 BD rule book.
Page 136 item 103
'bits with a central link such as a french link or rounded loenges are permitted but they must not have the action of a tongue plate.'
To me that reads as if they just shouldn't be a Dr. Bristol and a normal french link is fine.

Further research suggests that the FEI have banned french links but NOT BD.
Then BD goes on to say they follow FEI recommendations, so very confusing!!!!

Editted to add - From what I can see all references to the french link not being legal are connected with FEI eventing dressage.

I like the beris synthetic bits, ported ones for my big tongue cobs. Saw immediate change in one of mine.

I'm quite interested in the windenren ones, the cheek pieces are interchangeable but don't go big enough for me, need a 6.5inch for the elephant.
 
Stenners the gentle curve I refer to is the where the mouth piece joins the full cheek at the corner of the mouthpiece. I think it’s called Myler Comfort snaffle. I would post photos if I were technically competent 😆
 
Expert Bits do a full cheek with a comfort barrel mouthpiece which is very similar to the Myler, and a fraction of the cost.
If I recall correctly it was realised that French Links aren't as kind as originally thought, as the angle of the central "Link" digs into the horse's tongue.

I think I have actually heard this also.
 
Are the Full Cheek Comfy Barrel dressage legal? Also - he's a little leany in the french link - is this likely to make them lean at all? I'm conscious he's super sensitive and light in the mouth (until he leans) so want something soft and kind!

Looking on the BD Tack page, the barrel mouthpiece & full cheeks are both fine.
 
Another one for Myler!
My lad is in a loose ring for schooling & hacking, and a pelham for jumping etc.
I've tried him with allsorts, and this is definitely the nicest mouthpiece I've used by far!
