Full cheek vs loose ring vs eggbutt

Looking at what my horse's wear it'd be a loose ring. I like the feel they give. Eggbutt's always feel a bit fixed to me and they don't need full cheeks.

Varies depending on the pony. My preferred starting bit is a large ring copper mix loose ring french link snaffle as it has lots to play with. One pony still has a small ring variant of this. We had one pony that hated the loose rings - daughter's riding instructor also rode him in it and agreed. We found through trial and error that he was happiest in a single jointed hanging cheek - wouldn't have been my choice but it suited him. Daughter's current pony came with a single jointed eggbutt but never really seemed happy in her mouth. Have recently swapped to a loose ring happy mouth, double jointed with roller, and after a few days pony is going lovely in this, and finally starting to accept a contact without tossing her head. I would use full cheeks if needed on a young pony with steering issues.
