My horse has a pink nose, so wears a nose protector on a fieldsafe headcollar, but he keeps breaking it - to the point where I have run out of replacement rubber rings to fix it with. I have decided to try a full face mask instead, but he has a huge head and the one I bought (can't remember the make now, but it was cheap!) goes nowhere near him, despite being an extra large. Can anybody recommend one that's good for big heads please? He's a 16.2 IDx but has the head of a hippo!

I have a grey with a white nose so I use use the Equilibrium Field Relief Max Fly Mask. Check out the link below.

http://www.equilibriumproducts.com/fly_protection/field_reliefreg_max_fly_mask/

Forms an effective barrier from flies & midges
Blocks 80% of UV rays, protecting against sunburn
Extremely comfortable
Excellent visibility
Perfect for sensitive horses or those in high midge and fly infested areas
Donkey mask also available to help protect large donkey ears from flies and midges

My old mare used to have a full pink nose (appaloosa), cant remember the name of the mask (although it was a full length one) But I also used to put on Gold Labels Sun Block which worked brilliantly! He nose only ever caught the sun whenever I forgot to put it on (which wasnt very often!)

Look out for it - it's brilliant stuff!

Thanks - I put sun cream on as well but go for the belt and braces approach! Will give the equilibrium one a go.

Another vote for the Equilibrium one, my boy has a very pink nose and this gives really good coverage, and is nice and soft. I do also put suncream on as he has been know to escape from it, but not as much as his other one and the field safe!

another vote for equilibrum, also on robinsons you get a free riding fly mask when you buy the maxi fly mask
