Just curious as to how many people have their horse/s on full livery and why? I have my boy on full livery because the yard is 22miles away it would cripple me in fuel costs if I had him on DIY (I used to go up after work every day and it cost me more in fuel than my livery costs were!!) I miss him terribly though but he's happy there so don't want to move him again. Would just like to hear other people who are possibly in the same position...

Mine are on full livery someone, either Elizabeth,my daughter, or I or both of us see them 5 times a week. There are yards closer but the care where they are is 2nd to none so that is where they will stay. It is expensive in petrol, especially the prices round here, but I still would not move them.

I'm on full livery because although I love my horse to bits, she isn't the only important thing in my life. I commute 50 miles a day to work and often work long hours so it just wouldn't be fair on her to have her on DIY

Do you mean full or part? I am on part as my job means I can't guarantee I can stick to a set routine.

Full livery, the only reason I ask is because it is making me sad that I don't see him as much as I would like (coupled with the fact that I can't drive until my stupid leg is out of plaster so I have to rely on my OH to give a lift and he commutes in total over 100 miles a day so I feel bad asking him to take me up when he gets home from work just to go and see Billy, who will be out in a muddy field in the dark! And I speak to the YO almost every day to make sure he is ok.)

Mine is on what I call part livery but our yard call fulll livery. Basically the yard do everything but exercise her.

I do that because it isn't practical for me to go up twice a day and it works out about the same pricewise as DIY with the services I would need on the same yard. The school is the yards biggest selling point though. I still go up daily, it just makes it easier when we are away for dh's work to have her sorted.

I live and work in London but keep my horse in Herts where there I get better turnout and hacking.
I do go up after work 3 times a week and it means that I spend the time riding or grooming rather rushing around trying to get chores done.
I also have a sharer that rides him one day a week.

I have him on 5 day livery and do him myself at the weekends.

Mine is on full livery because it is the only way I could have a horse of my own. The hours I work plus my commute make DIY impossible. He gets a set routine and I get the security of knowing he is well looked after when I can't be there.

Mines on full livery as no way could I be arsed mucking out also yard is 13 miles from house so could not go up twice a day, sometimes work offshore so need to know he cared for, also have a life away from horses so like to have time to do that.
