I am in the Midlands and we pay...

£195 for stable, grazing and unlimited bedding(straw)
£35 a large bale for hay (x 2 in Winter)
£80 shoes
I spend £20 on feed and £45 on supplements
Insurance £70
So all in about £415

I absolutely love my yard, it's 5 minutes walk from my house, lovely people including YOs who still only charge £1 a time for turnout/bring in.

I consider myself very lucky!

I’m in a relatively cheap area and I pay £140 every four weeks for hay and basic livery and I buy a two straw bales winter at £35 a bale so say £3 a week for 6months and I buy my feed in bulk so usually about £120 so all in all I’m about to excluding trims and insurance I’m £160 every four weeks basic. At my previous yard I was £185 every four weeks.

Due to all the price rises I’m considering DIY livery. I’ve never done DIY before so I’m wondering what the approximate total cost per month would be, and also any tips for adjusting from full to DIY.
I’m willing to put in the work as I 100% do not want to lose my gelding, full has just been a nice convenience until now.

I’m after the total cost, such as how much everyone is paying per month for the livery, including feed, hay, bedding and shoes etc. I’m paying approx £650 per month for everything right now (full livery, feed, shoes and insurance).

Thanks in advance. :)
my diy is £ 220 a month

£170 for stable and grazing (out overnight in summer, in overnight in winter, if fields get trashed due to weather they have to come in early, circa 2.30pm)

£35 for big bale hay

£25 for big bale of straw (both supplied by the yard)

£25 to park my lorry

All of that goes straight to the yard

Services (not allowed to do favours for other liveries except on Sundays) £2.50 to turn out, £3 to bring in, £15 all day cover

Supplements £40/50

Feed between £7.50- 40 depending on season/work etc

Shoes approx £65+ (I buy duplos direct and my farrier fits them, sometimes I can get 3 cycles out of a set, sometimes 2)

Physio £50 mates rates every 8w approx

My approximate budget is £400pcm but I’m usually over it…

Mine are out from April-end September although they often come in during the day especially when hot.

I’ve only included hay, main feed, bedding and livery as supplements specialist feeds and shoeing etc. are not normally included in livery prices. I’ve averaged it out over 12 months.

Horse 1 27yr old semi-retired. Poor teeth. Messy in stable.
Livery £185 just facilities
Bedding £20 wood pellets
Hay £0
Hay replacer £140
Hard feed £66
Total £411

Not included all supplements including Equijewel and micronised linseed.

Horse 2 13 yr old full work, good doer, fairly tidy in stable.

Livery £185
Bedding £13 wood pellets
Hay £25
Hard feed £45
Total £268

This is based on the last 12 months but bedding is probably going to double due to wood pellets prices massively increasing.

My yard is 5 miles away and I go twice a day. At 19p per mile current cost for my VW petrol Polo thus costs me £115 a month which is shocking. I Would probably go to see my horse once a day 6 days a week when on livery that would come to around £50-60 a month. As I have two horses it balances out a bit more.
