Hi all..
I had the vet in to give my 16 year old a full MOT... flexion tests.. on a circle the lot.. and he was sound as a pound!! I'd had butterflies in my stomach expecting the worst.. The only thing that was picked up was some heat in his front feet and the suggestion that his heels need supporting and this would be the reason he was being reluctant down the lane on the stones. He said i was dead right to have him on restricted turn out and i'm watching his weight, farrier is coming in the next few days to change his shoeing on front. No signs of arthritis at all but did say i should do more pole work to build up his muscles in his back end and basically stop worrying as hes not old at 16 and to get on with it!! I had to refresh his memory on my horse as he initially was getting confused with my mums horse when he arrived (He has EMS and had an operation on his stifle as a 3 year old) Both horses look similar.. :/ he said to get different colour horses to my mums next time so he can remember their history easier.. lol!
my horse has improved ten fold energy wise since being in the restricted turn out and being in during the day while its been hot.. i can't wait to get his new shoes on so we can get back to having fun and get out to some shows! Im so relieved and just wanted to share..
