Arrghh What would you do ......?

With a LOU/retired horse who is only 13yrs old - supposed to be a 'light hack' due to knackering a suspensory ligament in his off-fore twice in 8 months but currently showing no signs of lameness (despite vet saying this time last year he would be permanantly 1/10th lame for life) and requiring so much 'work' , to prevent him going stir-crazy, i've now got a sharer.

Honestly this morning I hacked for about an hour - including lots of trot & canter (i have gradually built up to this since last winter - didn't just wizz around this morning, LOL) and when i put him back in the field he went off doing this fabulous 'dressage' style trot!
Before his injury he used to be a plod, help!

He is being ridden about 3-4 times a week at the moment by me/sharer. I dont have anymore time due a full time job and another horse (who i jump etc with).
He is sooooo full of beans.....
