Full or Part livery on a bank holiday

when I was on a Livery yard I was on Part Livery and I know if you were a full livery customer than yes it was included however if you were a part livery customer (which was turn out or bring in mon - fri and DIY weekends) then they were charged at 4 times the normal 'extras' rate

and bank holidays were always DIY for us part liveries as well
 
Our livery is 356 days a year but in the past I have been on yards where you are required to pay a surcharge or do the horse yourself.
 
I'm on part livery and the horses get fed and mucked out, but not turned out on Christmas day or Boxing day (its the same for those on full livery). Its a family run yard and want to have a Christmas too.
Horses go out for the other 363 days though!
 
Last yard it wasn't covered at all so you had to organise your own cover.

New yard they are offering to do xmas and new year's day at extra cost however i think me and my friends will do each others. I'm away for xmas but will be back for new year.

When i worked on a livery yard all bank holidays were done apart from xmas day, boxing day and new years day. There was only the yard owners horses done then. However all the other bank holidays meant you were definatly working, as it was also a riding school.
 
We turn out for all our liveries every day of the year including bank holidays and non of them offer us a day off - so this year I have said we will not do 25/26/27/28 December or the 1st Jan Liveries will have to make their own arrangements. We don;t have any full liveries - but we do have parts who are normally done monday to friday and then owners do them on sat and Sunday. We do them on all the bank holidays so I think 5 days in the year off for us is not unreasonable bearing in mind they will no doubt be having time off work themselves at Christmas . I have said if they don;t want to do them then we will make arrangements but charge them an additional £20 per horse per day.
 
I have my horse on 5 day livery and I've always offered to do him on Bank Holidays.
However at Christmas I tend to go away for a few days as I live in London and none of my family do.
I was left in the lurch my first year at a yard when I found out about a week before I went that my horse would not be done on Christmas day.
Luckily a friend kindly did him for me.
My new yard are giving you the option at a premium though at £35 per horse we are working out a rota between 4 of us there.
I'm doing News Years Day.
 
The previous yard didn't include any Bank Holiday even though my girl was on full livery. The yard she's on now covers Bank Holidays.

I don't understand if you're on full livery how can your horse not be covered because it's a bank holiday!

Unless of course your contract states it, but then surely there should be some money given back for the lack of services on those days!
