Hi, I'm new to this site and was wondering if anybody could recommend a livery yard around Croydon/WestWickham/Warlingham/Bromley?

I have a lovely 14.1 gelding who is currently stabled over an hour away from me. I keep him on Full Livery at £95 pw. This is my only option as I am a mum and also work full time.

If I can't find a reasonably priced yard more local to me, I'll have to sell him : ( which is my last resort.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated...Thank you

You may want to look at these threads for some ideas of where to enquire:

Also, if you wanted to check out tack shops for adverts then the two closest to West Wickham are the Saddlery and Gunroom, http://www.saddleryandgunroom.co.uk/ or the 2nd hand place in Woldingham, http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&q=saddlery+woldingham&gs_sm=11&gs_upl=3368l4331l0l7029l3l3l0l0l0l0l85l230l3l3l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=700&bih=678&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=DE9NT93BN-Oh0QWcp6DMAw&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=3&sqi=2&ved=0CBoQ_AUoAg

As said in the threads linked to there are TONS of yards in the area, its just finding one that suits you, as a lot rely on word of mouth to advertise :)

There are lots of yards, particularly around Warlingham - what exactly are you looking for in terms of facilities - I might be able to point you in the right direction!

Thanks for that. In terms of facilities, I'm looking for a small yard with a sand school, but nothing flashy. Good grazing a must : ) and obviously friendly!

I drive, so doesn't need to be close to transport. I'd prefer to be closer to West Wickham as I live in Shirley.

Closest to WW would probably be the ones around/ off Layhams Road area in Keston. Off the top of my head there's North Pole, Toms', Fortune Bank, one further along Nash from Fortune Bank I can't remember the name of..., Greenacres, Layhams Farm which all used to offer full/part livery. There are more yards around than that, but most were DIY (I moved away few years ago, but grew up in the area). Slightly further afield there's Fox Hill Farm, Beechwoods, Fairchildes, Farleigh Court etc.

You're best bet TBH is to go for a drive and pop in to some of the yards and ask, as like I said a lot of them don't really have much of a web presence!

I think most of those are DIY and the two that tick all your boxes in terms of facilities that I can think of are Heathfield Farm (Gravel Hill) and Wickham Court (West Wickham). At the top of Featherbed lane you have Fickleshole Farm and Fairchildes Farm, but again they are DIY. Holt Farm offer Part and Full I believe or Lincoln Stud down Crewes Lane, Warlingham does livery - has school and horsewalker but limited grazing. Farleigh court does livery and has a small school.

You could try Church Farm near Woldingham train station but that's probably about 25 mins drive from you. Same with Beechwood Riding School but they have 3 outdoor schools and an indoor school.

I don't really know Keston area but what about Downe Court - smaller yard with indoor school?

Good luck!
