Private livery yard​

Evening everyone ,

After a little of advice please have 4 stables on private family land , have field access directly out from stables and can be put for a unlimited time grazing . As much or as little the person wants .

I have been asked for 3 horses what I would charge for 2 days full livery and the remaining 5 days for me to do morning net given and turn out then do the rest they have asked me to include hay within the price but myt do it sperate as will be based on what size kg nets they have .

Can I ask what people are or would expect to pay for this per week please as want to be fair .

This is in longridge.

You need to be clear about what you’re looking for! We aren’t stupid and you’ve already posted asking for 3 days and then 4 days. What are you trying to find out or have you been ‘shopping’ for property on line? 🤷‍♀️

Hi I didn't imply that anyone was stupid I have had enquiries about both someone has asked me about 2 days full livery and rest me to give a net in the morning. The other post is for a different set up .

No not shopping for a property I have 4 stables and on a private property. People have enquiries about different set ups and I just want to be fair with them on price and I now there has been a bit of a range so wanted some advice .
 
This is strange.

I’m not sure why someone would approach you asking for full livery if you’re not already set up as a livery business. Running a livery business is not for the faint of heart hearted, especially in such a bizarre set up as you’re describing.

Rent the yard out as sole use and stay away from offering any services, its not worth the hassle.

We are already set up however people have different requirements as I have had people want stuff including or not. But was just gauging with people prices to make sure I was brin fair and who better to ask that people who either have there own yard ,horse or have full or part livery at a yard .

All I asked is for full livery 3/4 days
And part the rest what are people roughly paying per week not sure why this is bizarre maybe I've not worded it right .

Ok, but that’s quite different to what you described in your original post.

People may have different requirements, but what you are prepared to offer is far more important. What is currently included, and is doing it that way working for you? You can’t dictate your livelihood on the whims of unknown clients.
 
We are on 5/2 part livery if that helps? 5 days full livery effectively Mon-Fri (they do everything bar ride the horse and groom) and the weekends we do the horses ourselves (we can add services if we want at additional cost). We pay £570 a month which includes 8 bales of straw and 10 bales of hay…any more and you pay per bale. This is in the West Midlands.

Livery yards are hard to come by in parts of the world, I am all too familiar with this! So I can totally believe you’ve been approached by people asking if you’d take them on! I have done so myself with varying degrees of success! If you can make it work for yourself and you don’t mind then im sure they will be very very grateful! I know i would be 😂

It's not if you read back . I have had space become available and while I have everything in place they have asked for a slightly different set up than how the other people have there's. I'm not being dictated to I'm just happy to accommodate I don't mind this and I just was to be fair so wanted to gauge prices.
 
I don’t think there a difference between full livery for 7 days or one day. You need to work out the daily cost per box and that gives you a total for 7 days. In order to find the cost for 2/3/4/5 days you divide by 7. BUT you need a proper business plan with details of the service provided. Full livery is definitely easiest. Your query re various scenarios is fine BUT what happens when your client wants to go on holiday or is unable to turn up on the days previously detailed. Your base price should be worked out on the yard set up and the facilities you can provide. An indoor school, post and rail fencing and no mud will command a premium whereas a muddy field with random fencing and leaky boxes wouldn’t be attractive to reliable clients. If you provide more information it may be easier to help but you haven’t really provided sufficient information. Don’t forget you’ll need to factor in insurance costs as well as wages and ground rent unless YOU are the owner and therefore responsible for paying rates. If you’ve four horses of your own and can suddenly accommodate an additional four have the boxes been used recently or will they require maintenance - which should also be included in your initial costings. Good luck but don’t expect to make much / any profit.

Have you an indoor or outdoor school and do you have safe hacking from the yard.
Your best bet is to check out the other yards in the area and their pricing.
 
Don't forget that you may need planning permission if changing use from a private yard to commercial livery.
