After my oldest fitting pair of chaps broke I've been on the hunt for a pair of long boots that look good and fit. I walk, cycle and ride so my calfs are huge despite a hefty weight loss. I've found a second hand pair of fuller fillies boots in my budget but have a few questions about them. If you have them are they good? Do they last? And most importantly how much do they drop with wear? I'm worried about them being too tall for my short wide legs.
Thanks in advance! :)

My sister has a pair she really rates them, she has short legs and wide calves. The boots seem hardwearing, Sis has had hers for at least 5 yrs and she is normally a wrecker of all footwear.

Ooh that's positive! Do you happen to have any idea how much they drop? I'm reluctant to buy the short size incase they drop too much, but also afraid the standard size will be too tall for me

I had the regular length leather ones and the zip kept coming down on one and they were quite short. Got a new pair of the long fake leather ones (accident, i thought they were the leather ones until i read the inside of the boot and id already worn them) they cracked over the toe within three wears and customer service was crap. They didn't drop and pinch my knees and give me awful blisters at the back. Theyre curerntly lying in the botom of my tack box unsellable and unwearable.

I really like that there was a boot for larger calves, but honestly i don't think i loved them. I think they are quite expensive for what they are.

Oh no! The pair I'm looking at are the show/dress boots and definitely leather. It seems that they run short, heard from a lot of people now which works in my favour. I might just have to take the risk and sell on of needed

Not sure, sorry.
My boots are Tuffa (Showtime) I've been v. pleased with them.

Had my show boots for years, comfortable and have worn well but then I have looked after them and only used them for competition. I have really large calves , blinking nothing fits me, I couldn't find anything until the fuller fillies boots. I've been pleased with mine. I would buy again.

Brilliant! Think I'll go for them then and just sell them on if they are hugely off size for me :)

If they are DEFFO the leather ones they are worth a try. My leather ones were nice enough, but i think i needed a longer size (i sold them and the new owner has been happy with them)

I don't believe they even do the fake leather ones anymore cause they were so awful...so i just lost a lot of money on them.

I have the leather dress boots but I keep them for best so they haven't had a huge amount of wear and I can't comment on how hard-wearing they are, but I have been very pleased with them. If you're worried about them being too long then you could try the Mountain Horse heel lifters until they drop

Hi. Bit late to the party but I wanted to share my bad experience of Fuller Fillies (now known as Plus In Boots but they are still selling some Fuller Fillies stuff) half-chaps. I have had the long FF boots for ages and really like them as they fit well, seem good quality and look smart, but I keep them for best so they haven't been used much. However, I bought some pretty expensive half chaps earlier this year (over £50) and after only using them twice very lightly they developed large wear marks that went right through the surface to the dark under layer. They look awful. I contacted the company but they just didn't want to know - terrible customer service, as Equi says above, and the quality has really gone downhill. My advice would be don't waste your money on Fuller Fillies/Plus In Boots unless, like the OP, you can get old ones s/h.

I'd forgotten about this thread but sorry you had a bad experience. I loved my boots at first, they were comfy and fitted nicely. However the elastic panel started going and stretching out rapidly after very little wear and no matter if I used heel raises or not the back of my heels would be rubbed raw. The leather was so thin and cheap feeling, I really wanted to love them but couldn't. I sold mine on and got my money back so it meant I could buy some Tredstep donatellos instead which are amazing and have been used and abused and are still so comfy and look great :)

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply - and I'm glad you found some good boots eventually. I'm really annoyed that I'm stuck with these wretched chaps and that retailers can just get away with it. Thanks also for the Tredstep tip.
