I know there's a lot of posts on insurance but I'm looking for fully comp insurance for my 5 horses.
Basic use incl dressage and low SJ, 2 are broodmares.
Harry hall won't cover illness and ligaments etc
Horse insurance was about £450 a month (crying)

I want them all to be covered for vet fees in illness, injury, colic etc
Loss of use and mortality insurance

Please help my head is hurting

😬 agree you have too many… sorry

Admiral do multi pet insurance which is very good. Not sure if they do horses

Have you contacted NFU? We have 2 horses and trailer with them, they are very reasonable and cover what you are after. We got a bit of a discount for the multiple policy.

Loss of use is what's causing the premiums to be so high.
And if by Mortality you mean getting the value insured when the die - then that's also v expensive.

The criteria required to be met for successful claims for LOU and PTS are really strict / difficult so with that many it may well be worth considering a vets costs only type insurance and keeping the difference in a savings account so you know you can get to it if you need to.

Set their value at £500 each and vets fees only with a high excess and the premiums will be much more manageable.

I don't think any of the insurers do a multi horse policy that is any cheaper than just five separate policies.

BHS 3rd party then take it off your policy. Insured value as £500.

That should drop the quote to something like £60 per month per horse (so £300 ish). Or you can stick that £300 a month (£3600pa) in a savings account. Up to you!

Putting premiums into an account will save you money over the lifetime but it's a risk if 3 of them have something happen next month.

Agria is an inbetween solution, premiums are much lower than others but you pay both an excess and a proportion of each claim. You could do this whilst building up a decent amount in your accounts.
