fulmer keepers?

So am thinking of trying H in a full cheek snaffle for jumping & just keeping his gag for hacking/ xc.

Was just wondering as old yo used to use fulmer keepers on all the rs ponies with them but new yo has some in them & doesn't use the keepers

Just wondering, are they a must use?

Keepers need to be used on a fulner (where the ring the rein attaches to is not fixed solidly to the cheeks). No need to use them on a fixed full cheek.

On a full cheek snaffle you don't need to use keepers, but I do. On a Fulmer you should always use keepers.

The bendy top end of the fulmer needs to be held in those bloomin awkward keepers. It's all about the keepers lifting the bit to the correct position in the mouth. And are they the worst to get onto the bridle...

A straight top end full cheek snaffle does not need them.
