Fuming about yard some advice please

Can you not bring the TB in and leave a note describing the damage almost done to the foals and vets bills will be directed to them in the future if the TB goes out with the foals again? I would do that if moving is not a viable option.
Otherwise, move. I would have moved by now.

Yeah i could do but im not up yard till late now being back at work so don't see the owner. I don't where the owner would stand anyway as i know it is her horse but it isn't her who is turning him out in the mornings.

I am planning on moving but it is never a quick and simple task as i have to find a field for the herd and a stable yard for Buddy and Daisy, Plus as being paid to look after friends horses i can't really do much until she comes back. But we had been talking before about splitting rent between us and finding somewhere to rent with land and stables.

Move your horses as soon as possible to a well managed and safe yard that can offer you individual and secure turn out for your mares. Your horses well being are the most important issue here.

Your present yard owner has a duty of care to you and your horses.

Once you have moved I would claim from the yard for the damage caused to your horse. The yard owner should have public liability/third party insurance cover.

And what would happen if they are not insured?

injured horses aside..this would make me seek out a new yard by itself!!!!!!

Echo all the others - please please move.

As a breeder that keeps her horses on a livery yard myself, I know that it can be difficult, but I would be livid if the YO put ANY horse in with my foals, let alone a dangerous one. I would be leaving the very next day tbh. A livery yard is not the place to keep foals - unless you have a very, very good one.

As others have also said, in foal mares can easily be moved - unless they have a condition that means they can't?

I also have to question why you are planning on putting another horse into the equation. Madness IMO. And also livery prices for 6 horses must be astronomical!

Find them somewhere suitable to live or cut down on the number you have. If you don't then it is you who is irresponsible. Sorry.

Move. TB (racing) mares worth millions are transported while in foal all the time, so this is not a good reason to stay. Sounds as though your horses are in far more danger on this yard than they would be on a trip in a lorry to a decent place.

Can you not find a proper stud to take your mares and foals - and the new colt?

You need to move asap. In-foal mares are moved all the time - many are moved much closer to foaling than yours are. With respect, with so many horses, youngsters and coming foals - you need to have your own place were you have security and know that your horses are not being put in dangerous situations.

I agree. The YO is very ill by the sounds of things and presumably her family are doing their best. TBH in the same situation I'm sure my OH would have asked everyone to find alternative places for their horses asap as other peoples animals would be the least of his concerns.
I dont understand why you cant move your mares.
if finances are an issue then please sell them before this all turns into a tragedy for everyone including the horses.

How about negotiating with the YO and their OH for you to take over as Yard Manager for a while? It sounds like they are struggling with the role, you have all the right skills and it would be great experience before getting your own place.

Move.
And just consider how distinctive the photos are in your signature. Is there any possibility someone who knows you and the people you are talking about might read this thread?
