I don't care if this is defamatory or not!!!
I ordered waterproof trousers from Derby house on the 6th March 2007!!!!!! Every month I called and was assured they would be sent as soon as they were in stock.....still nothing....until today I got an email saying because now they are getting their new stock in they have cancelled my order. I'm FUMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi, sorry to hear that, they did this to me last year. I ordered a showjumping shirt for my sister, it was a birthday pressie (January). They told me the same it was in the post then they were waiting for stock, eventually when I phoned (now april) they said they no longer sold them and cancelled my order! Think my sister thought i'd not bothered to buy her anything!! I have just put a post on about fly rugs as I was going to try them again, thinking maybe it was a one off! oh pants!

I ordered a few things last week and they sent it out in 3 lots and have cancelled the last item because of the same reason. Im never using them again as all my dealings with them have been crap!

Yes they're customer service was awful, didn't respond to emails and took weeks to get them to answer the phones!! Then for this to happen! Will not be using them again and urge others not to aswell!

God I cant stand them!!

Last year I took advantage of a Your Horse promotion on body protectors at Derby House - I ordered a small Just Toggs protector in May and didnt get it until - mid July - I was so cross - and they kept fobbing me off with ' Well you are getting it cheap so be greatfull.....' Bloody annoyed

Will NEVER use the again

Im still waiting for a hi viz jacket from them...that I ordered last NOVEMBER!

Wont order anything from them now on principle.

I ordered a load of stuff from them in May and paid for speedy post because I needed everything to go to an event. I received a packet of plaiting bands and was told everything else was out of stock - needless to say I kicked up a stink about paying so much to post a packet of plaiting bands and they refunded me. Cancelled my order and got everything next day from Robinsons.

I understand how you feel- I must admit I think D/ House has gone way down hill- they seem to have got too big- I used to order quite a lot of stuff from them years ago when they just had one saddlery shop in Lancs and you would receive the parcel the next day- great!
I have been trying for months just to get their latest catalogue copy (even though I'm on their mailing list!) and their website doesn't seem to be working. I resorted to emailing them last week with my request and it still hasn't turned up! I won't bother using them now!

That really is shocking Customer Service that you have had though and they will lose a lot of customers if they are not careful!

You're all going to hate me but...

Last year I ordered quite a bit from a certain company (I am NOT going to admit who on open forum lol), headcollar, rope, buckets, lungeing equipment, etc etc. The not only sent my order out double quick but...

I then found a parcel on the doorstep a couple of days later. the dozy eejits had only sent me a second lot of everything

.

Did I keep them?? Hell sure i did!!

I have been told that the above mentioned saddlery haven't been paying their bills, hence their lack of stock. My friend ordered a NZ supposedly in the sale, it took months as they said they were waiting for stock, how can they be waiting if its in the sale???

Sounds really bad - if we cannot get something within three weeks, we automatically cancel the order and apologise profusely.

It generally means its on a ship, and can take months to come into stock!

How annoying!

I am just about to order some waterproofs too and was wondering whether to go for DH...after reading the above I think I won't (although ordered a few things before and they were OK). I actually found exactly the same waterproof trousers £10 cheaper somewhere else!
Good luck with your order.

I got a rug in there sale the other day and it came the next day. Everything else I ordered was not in stock and I said not to worry - glad I did not bother putting it on back order

iirc Derby House used to be called CAM Equestrian from Herefordshire

They went into receivership and then bought what was the old Derby House and the old CAM owners started trading again under the Derby House name

I'm pretty sure this is what happend

I personally use Ride-Away and have no trouble tih them - and also use Barnstormers - they were brillian and fast

Robinsons catalogue I find is now full of a lot of 'twee' stuff and the wellies I just bought from them split in 3 weeks, got changed, split in 3 weeks, got changed and now the 3rd pair has split in 2 weeks - and I mean SPLIT - back seam, outside front edge, inside front edge - but the soles are great ;-))

Just to upset the apple cart - I have always received everything I have ordered and very quickly too.

The last order I did with DH took ages. Not only that the first item (a roller) was sent to a different address (where I have a retired horse) and not the address on the order.
I was not been impressed with them. The other items took over a month.
I also used to use Olney Saddlery quite a bit and when DH took over they said that they would continue to run them separately as Olney had a different target market. The Olney brand has all but dissappeared and DH don't have the same stock. It's hard enough getting mens jods/breeches and with Olney now gone I can't seem to find the ones that fit me.

Have never had anything but trouble with DH. Every order that i have done (there has been many having a 12yr old daughter) its always been out of stock, or been sent wrong item. Never use them now.

I rate Rideaway. I have never had any problems with them. They phone when something isn't in!!!

I do just find it a whole lot easier to go to the local tack shop. Now we have some really good one's a round here so have had less need to go down the "mail order" route.

I placed an order with DH in March this year but it never arrived. They ignored all my e-mails and every time I phoned they assured me it was out of stock and would be sent the following week when they had had a delivery. Eventually when it was in stock and they tried to take my payment the expiry date on my card had run out so I ended up having to re-order it anyway! Finally received my stuff in the first week of August. I wrote them a letter telling them exactly what I though of their customer service. needless to say I won't be using them again in a hurry!

Yep rideaway are great but the shop is dire! ITs like a jumble sale and some staff dont speak english - they DO have the most AMAZING second hand saddle section tho ------ not available online - and an arena to try saddles on you horse!!

Barnstormer are adorable too!!

Like robinsons - love going to the shop ..... but its full of tat - that I buy!! Lol

That's disgusting!

I've actually trawled the online saddleries just today to find one that sold both items I wanted - DH did but I refuse to buy from them anymore because of past experiences!

Have ordered from them 4 or 5 times now and delivered every time - last order was for stable divider grilles - ordered to be delivered to OH's work adress on next day delivery. Builders then got on quicker than expected so called DH and they agreed to deliver to home and builders sign for them - were delivered at 8:20 the fololowing morning.
