fuming- I hate livery yards!

That does sound unfair. Livery yards can be soooo infuriating.

Also - I pay £70 per month for a stable, grazing and school. Prices vary so much nationally that it is rather daft for people to say that you have 'cheap livery'. And as someone else said, even if it was exceptionally cheap, you still should not be charged unfairly, or have to put up with ridiculous situations like that with the school.
 
I have the opposite problem - it's the YM who doesn't pick up poo after her lessons or put her jumps away. Really winds me up - especially when she has put a notice on the gate asking that all poo be picked up and jumps put away!
 
I thought it was common knowledge if your horse makes a mess you clear it up. Wether it be in the school the yard or the wash down area .

I myself have cleared up many times after previous liveries continue to leave put hay hair muck on the yard after i have taken 1 hr to clear every bit up with leaf blower. then someone comes along and walks horse out of stable and a lovely trail starts to emerge .

I never forget that clients keep the yard going. But on the other hand do you need clients who continually leave muck around tools out , jumps out , etc the answer is NO.

When the rest of the liveries clear up after themselves. I have strict rules which explains the yard working I tolerate so much before I have to have words. If they continue to break the rules they are given notice.

Yes again clients do pay but they pay and agree to the terms , they are not irreplaceable just cos you pay rent doesnt mean you can leave the place in a mess and not clear up. There are plenty of clients who would keep place tidy.

My recent livery is only young 15 . And she is amazing the stable is kept so clean and so neat that looks like a human bed and she keeps the barn immaculate unlike another livery who would tie up with haynet horse would poo and hay left on ground for me to clear up. SO she was shown the door .

You forget one simple thing...barns can charge each boarder whatever they desire.

A boarder who's horse has been at the yard for 10 years will usually pay less than the new boarder. Their loyalty is being rewarded.

A boarder who pays on time can get a discount. I pay my farrier in cash not cheque, he charges me less since he doesn't have to tell his wife or pay taxes on the mystery money.

Some boarders use the facility less or are more careful with everything there. Some boarders are a lot more pleasant to be around, are helpful, don't whinge all the time about not having X, Y & Z.

At my last yard, the range for board was amazingly broad. Where I'm at now, I pay for my horse's keep and because the farm owner is fairly well off, when she heard I had a riding mule she said she'd give me his board for free because the wanted a mule at the farm. Turns out she rode a mule at the Grand Canyon on holiday and loved it. I don't tell anyone what I pay, why hurt a good deal for me.

If the yard isn't worth it to you....Leave. Not are you being charged more than other boarders, that doesn't matter, but is it a fair price and are you getting what you're paying for.

Wow that is cheap. In fairness to your yard owner. If I was offering livery at £25 a week, I'd probably put a lock on my school as well ;)
 
If I was you I would explaiin your case to the manager. If she get angry give her/him as good as you get, she is bias after all. if she wont budge MOVE ssimple as that, just get up a bit earlier! good luck :)
 
Surely its not how much your paying but WHAT your paying for?

If you paid x amount for your stable, field, use of school etc and one of these is taken away then its time to talk to YO and renegotiate price due to one of your amenities being taken away?

How much you pay is irrelevant as is how much anyone else pays. What matters is your own contract and what should be available to you.

I don't think getting angry with YO when talking to them will help, TBH. Better to stick to the facts and come across as more mature.
 
£25 pw is average for DIY in my area too for a stable, turnout and arena.

OP, vote with your feet, you are paying for facilities that you're not getting.

As for the difference in livery fees, discuss it with the YO.
 
you are PAYING to use that school, how pathetic to punish everyone, maybe someone just forgot, had an accident, its not the end of the world, it outrages me that people are treated like this, most people go without a lot to fund their horses and the priority of the yo should be getting them in the school to ride, that is what they have the horses for.

i think everyone should pay the same, except in the case of small ponies, perhaps, it can only lead to discontent among the liveries

when and if they find out who's poo it was does that mean all the people denied the use of the school will get a refund ?
