Well, today was exciting!

We started off walking in and out of the cross country ditch, which was fine. Then my instructor put a small jump on the other side, Ned got a bit strong, but was alright. THEN she put a jump on both sides and that's when we really got excited :P I had no idea horses could canter backwards until today!
He has a funny habit of going sidewards, straightening up, jumping very nicely, then going sideways again!! Funny horse.
Anyway, it started to get dark, so we popped it nicely once more (With a jump IN the ditch and one on the other side, scary!!) and went to jump in the school.

I was extremely proud of him :) We jumped a lovely little course and he did it very nicely! No sidewards and he was turning nicely and not napping towards the others, like usual.

However, when I jumped off and started untacking, I noticed he was looking at me, lifting his hoof up. I finished untacking and walked him and noticed he was limping :( YO checked him and couldn't see anything. We turned him out and he went off to munch the grass. He's getting a week off, then we'll go back and see how he looks. He's never been lame before, so we're hoping it's nothing serious.
He's not mine and it doesn't even look too serious, but I'm still worried out of my mind :'(

Still, we ended on a happy note! My YO said if I practice, I get to take him in the BaDRC championships next year!! :D

Sorry about rambling, it was just such a fun ride, even if it had a bit of a sad end.

Glad you had a fun day, your post made me laugh, but please when you check your horse over thoroughly, wash the sole if need be, the reason I say this is our mare had a slight limp, we checked her for heat etc, checked her feet, nothing to see, vet said a sprain, she ended up on three legs, after about a week there was a slight swelling around her fetlock for a day, months later a new farrier mentioned she had had an abcess and showed us the trail it took out her hoof, the regular farrier never mentioned a thing, I felt so guilty at the pain she must have gone through

Hehe it was a very fun but scary day! Jumping isn't really my strong point XD

He'll be checked over properly tomorrow :) (Not by me, by his owner, but I take a special interest in him, so I always get informed how he's doing and what's being done) it was about 5:30 by the time we finished, so it was far too dark to do much more than a once over for heat and stones. I just hope it's nothing serious! I do worry so much when anything like this happens with him D: Although he's not been lame before, he had a small cut once and I could not stop worrying, even though I know he's in very safe hands :P

EDIT: Also, a lighthearted drawing I did, to cheer me up :) I couldn't help but feel so sorry for the poor chap when he kept nudging and showing me his hoof!
