fun/different things to do with your horse?

Not many suggestions I'm afraid, but I'm thinking along the same lines! Only had my boy for a few months and just hacked so far. I'm looking into some sponsored/ fun rides but don't have a box so am a bit limited!

There's also places you can take your horse on holiday with you.

Horse archery. :D

I will be showing this photo to my grey later to see what she thinks about giving it a go. ;)

PS. I would wear a hat mind you... possibly a Davy Crockett one, I've not quite decided yet. :p

Or you could try horseball?

Loads of stuff!
Tent pegging and horse back archery are definitely on my list!

mine are quite boring in comparrision!
we've obv done dr, sj, xc
but also
- ride bareback quite a bit
- done trec - she found it very exciting!
- hunting
- common rides
- finding obsticales - ie had her walking under/trough haniging washing recently!
- quite often go on in hand foraging hacks where she basically gets to eat... anything
- i REALLY want to try tent pegging on her next :)

I did a gymkhana in the summer which was NOT embarrassing at all because I was the only adult in it, I am a teacher and one of the kids watching his girlfriend in it went to my school. But my pony had an absolute blast. Luckily she is a good gymkhana pony.
Second the tackless riding, bombproofing, also western riding, liberty...
Kat, your horse is stunning and your pics make me want to do trick training now! I have that book by Phillipe Karl's wife so I must dig that out!
JFTD, where in Essex do you do TREC? I have a vague recollection of a post where you did an event in Hockley - who does that? I am really near there, could probably even hack that at a push but I have never seen it advertised. Perhaps I am looking in the wrong places?

The event in Hockley isn't a regular fixture, sadly, though they may run another in future. There is usually one full trec in the county in summer, often on the Herts side. Indoors are more common over winter, the pic above was recently at Stoke by Clare (north of Braintree). There's a training session and competition at Ashfields (Dunmow way) in Feb. Best place to look for dates is:

eta they've updated the website and it's now rubbish  There's a full TREC on there run by a Kent RC which claims to be in Essex, but is located in Wales according to their map. I fear they may have become confused there!
