I am taking my rescue in a fun dog show, we are doing Most handsome male, Best crossbreed and Dog the Judge would most like to take home.

What do I wear though ?

And Do I have to get a special leather lead ?

We ran one of these where I work, people showed up in all sorts of clothing - the entries ranged from the people who took it all terribly seriously, to those who were there for a laugh. People had all sorts of leads too. I did part of the judging, I was looking at the dogs (not the handlers - no idea what they were wearing!) and what I was looking for was general good health, good weight (no fatties!), a friendly temperament and a good relationship with the handler. I seem to remember our reserve BIS had a lovely purple lead:D

Any clothing/lead goes as long as its not baler twine attached to a choke chain probably. :D

Usually they seem to be, walk around (make sure your dog is between you and the judge, I was shocked at how many people went round yesterday with themselves between judge and dog! ) quick chat/look at each dog and then round again.

However, depending on where it's at prepare for the classes to be PACKED. There were 30+ in the classes at the weekend and that was at a small event in the pouring rain!

Lol I have done these in jods and show shirt etc. I have done most handsome male with friends dog and it was v competetive 3 friends also in class (got 1st). Have fun its good fun! Not much happened judge came round, asked name and then had a quick run round arena and judge had a cuddle.

I've taken the skinny mongrel to a few for his social life, and its people just wear normal dog walk-y sort of clothes.
Leads and collars were all varieties, and yes it can range from no-one to everyone in the class
There was never any running! Not by me anyway :)
Skinny mongrel came back with 'cutest dog' after he showed some shameful schmoozing of the judge- it was almost worth an Oscar in terms of performance!

I take Alice to fun dog shows to help with her socialisation. She wears a pink collar and lead :o :D And I usually just wear jeans and t-shirt/hoodie.
