Could someone explain to me how fun rides are continuing, with the current restrictions, which are going to be tightened more from Monday?

We went to one last sun and they had 240 riders - fair do's they had all the social distancing measures in place, and set people off at regular intervals rather than en masse, but surely a 'fun ride' would be classed as a mass gathering under the eyes of the current legislation? Or are they legit 'sporting events' ?

We have pre-paid to do one this sunday , in England, and am really not sure whether we should be going......

Thoughts?

I imagine organisers have interpreted it as if the individual groups don’t exceed 6 that’s fine, for example you don’t only have 6 people in a restaurant, but people in 6 individual groups.

I’m unsure how I feel about it. It’s outside and can be socially distant but not sure how much these new regulations will change things.

Well the ones I've been to so far, apart from the one last weekend that I assume we both went to @L&M - have had groups setting off at specific times, and no more than 6 in the group. So as long as social distancing is observed in the lorry park, I'm assuming that's how it's working.

I'm happy to be going again on Sunday , not to the pre paid one, but the 2nd running of last weekend's.

Badminton fun ride have put something out today saying they interpret it as a "sporting event" and hope to be running but are double checking their position. They have closed entries immediately and will be allocating start times in a bid to remain covid-compliant.

I would think it's one of the safest horse events that you could attend, you basically ride with whoever you went with and literally have no other contact with anyone else really[/QUOT

Don't have an issue with all the measures these rides have put in, and agree they are probably safer than going to do the weekly shop - just curious about the legalities......and how the new restrictions will affect. At the end of the day these rides are primarily fund raisers so gutting for the organisers, who put in so much hard work, to see them disappear down the 'covid' drain......
