Mine plays football, puts his head down on command (for bridle etc), shakes hands (from whihc I was planning on teaching spanish walk), gives kisses, and will touch a target as well. But the kisses and hand-shaking are a bit annoying, wouldn't recommend, he's a bit enthusiastic and you have to be careful not to kneel infront of him in case he knee-buts you in the head :)!!!

He'll also stand and stay in one place as long as I want him to, he'll fetch, pick things up, wave, turn in circles, walk to heel, back up, 'says' yes and no, pushes a ball about...he does all these at liberty, I rarely bother with a halter for him.

Disclaimer: Teaching them to rear or kiss may not be the safest things to do.

Anything a horse does that we ask it to is basically a 'trick' some of the most useful ones are the 'de-spooking' kind of thing, teach ground tying, or side passing over poles and obstacles, or doing an obstacle course or jumps at liberty.

Have fun.

Just for fun ... and really nothing to do with tricks but here are some obstacles to give you ideas of what you can do with a horse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vp40sNYnzCc&feature=related

most of what we do falls under the umbrella of agility / despooking / useful things rather than "tricks" but we are working on a bow and she does the legs crossing thing ... and she will head a ball if I throw it right

My little pony gave kisses. He was great, I taught him with lots of carrots and he knew the only time he'd get one was if I had by hand behind my back and asked so he wasn't silly about it. Although I'd imagine nippy animals would be a nightmare with things like that. Now my big 17"3 WB does paw (or hoof I suppose ) so he picks his front feet up on command and he also bows when ridden. Bit of a nightmare when you're going into to jump a 1m40 and he randomly bows and throws you up his kneck though!! :p

Well, that is very impressive, love that he goes through the tunnel at liberty ... you have me thinking now, Charley sized tunnel hmmm...what to use.

One of Charley's most useful 'tricks that isn't a trick really' is that he will load and unload through the jockey door in the trailer, it's a bit of a hop up but he does it very neatly from a standstill, it always makes people smile when they see it, and several other small horse owners I know have trained theirs to do it too. Last summer we were out for the day and one of his handlers dropped him, he went back and put himself to bed and stood there with his head out of the door, he likes being another 18" higher than normal.:)

Aww bless... I got M to do a bow, open and shut gates with his nose (well he volunteered and I just capitalised on it:D), he loads and unloads himself.. you just have to throw the rope over his neck. That's it really... would like to do agility with new girl. Love the idea of doing a tazzle style course!! :)

p.s. he started loading himself once I took partition out, before, it was harder.

Unfortunatly no pictures but I taught my horse to say 'please' by lifitng either of his front legs, he loved to do it as it meant treats but I also find it very useful in stressful situations as when we were away competing his nervous energy often got the better of him so as he tacked up or were standing waiting to go in I would ask him to say 'please' from either the ground or when i was on him and this took his mind off the situation around us!

He and Taz would do well together then ;) ..... she enters the barn through the people door .... then does a sharp left down a little corridor
