Hi
Has anyone used Equine America Fungatrol cream for mudfever? If so what were the results like?
My boy has persistant mud fever on his near fore and nothing is shifting it. Hibiscrub and sudocrem has worked in the past bit this patch just wont budge and his leg has gone a little puffy. He has been checked for leg mites (vet did skin scrapings) which came back negative and he's not lame but the leg is obviously bothering him slightly. I was just wondering if anyone had used the fungatrol stuff and whether it was worth a try?
Thanks
S

Sounds like a good reference! Think I'll go order some now and remind myself not to buy horses with white legs again!
Thanks

I and several people on my yard have used Fungatrol on mud fever with great success.

Trying various methods we found that the best way was to wash the affected area with hibisrub. Make sure the skin is dry before applying a liberal amount of the cream - do not rub in too much, then leave it alone. After a few days the area goes black and then this falls away revealing lovely pink skin below! Amazing stuff. We have also had great success using the cream on hariy cobs who get sores behind the knees.

It definitely works on the back of cobs scabby knees. It's the only thing I've used that has seen off deep sore scabs there on a permanant basis. It also softens mud fever scabs lower down so that they are painless to remove after a few days.

It's the best stuff I've found, better than anything the vet's given me.

My lad has slight feather so I find if I keep the tub in my car it's a bit runnier & goes through the hair better.

Yes, very good. Use it as a cure, don't use it all the time as a prevenative.

Put some vaseline or non medicated baby cream on their dry legs in the morning before they go out. That helps.
