My lad is quite a character, thought we'd have a post to see who else has got mini comedians! His names Lenny, so I think he thinks of himself as Lenny Henry...
Anyway. The girls at the yard throw rugs over the stable walls - or they used to, until Lenny arrived. Lenny takes great pleasure in dragging the rugs off the wall, an inch at a time, checking to see noone is watching! Then he drags them to the middle of his stable and lies on them, and refuses to move from his rug nest! It's quite funny to watch!
He also has a really irritating habit of untying my number at competitions, so I have to repeatedly go back to the secretary and ask for more string, so by the end she thinks i'm a complete nutter!
He wouldn't swallow his wormer once, so I held his nostrils so he couldn't breathe, and he made noises like he was dying... when I decided I better let go he spat wormer all over my brand new Jack wills hoody, with the most evil of grins on his face!
And my friends 3yo, I was taking him out to the field last night, when he decided it would be a really clever game to canter rather than walk, dragging me along behind him. I let go and he stopped dead, and looked round to see where I had gone! It was like, well that's not fun any more!
Haha, sorry for long post, just thought there were some characters on the yard that needed putting on HHO!

Git bags aka Hovis is our yard comedian
His list of tricks include:
Throwing objects at you when your back is turned and then looking away when you swing around pretending it wasn't him
Pulling rugs (not his own) off walls and sleeping on them.
Pushing barrows over when they're full
Spitting water at people as they walk past
Wiping snot down your back but only when you are wearing pale colours never when you're in dark
Shoving his head down between his legs when you're picking his feet out so he can watch you.
Sticking his head in anything (and I mean anything) being nosy even if it then wedges on his head.
Hiding his head so thus thinking you can't see him as he can't see you.
Playing ball with the yard dog.

My horse is called Betty , she is a chestnut mare, she not so much funny just a little different, if a stranger comes into her space she stand and gives them the most evil looks. lol rolles her eyes at them ears flat back, its ever so funny, however if the stranger has a treat she is the nicest horse in the world and will love them. she loves routine and when its broken she gets quite mardy and sometimes puts on a strop. She is the messiest in the stable, if you are mucking out around her she will try help and if i say something like betty dont touch the fork.. she wont touch the fork she will then touch the brush or shovel.. gah.. she then looks at me as if to say... what you said dont touch the fork so i'm not.! When hacking, if you dont pay attention she will be very naughty. ie turn and bugger off! she is very mardy basically abit like me .. so i'm told. On the plus side, she is my best friend, She comes to call and whinnies when she see's me. I love her dearly, she makes me smile when i'm feeling down and she takes all my worries away when i'm with her. So all and all not a bad horsey! Her moodieness is all show as deep down i know she loves me too... well thats what i keep telling myself!

Awww he sounds great!

My old mare, who I lost a few years ago knew every trick in the book! When we were on a private yard her favourite trick was to let herself out of the stable and move along opening the other doors too...anything left outside her stable would be dragged in and suitably destroyed, be it a yard brush or headcollar....she also untied herself one morning from the lorry and went hunting without me.....

Cue some very irate hunt staff!

Buddy can be a right pain...some of the stupid/annoying things which he does include:

Purposely shreading each new rug which you buy him.

Wiping snot down your arm after lunging.

Licking your back when bend down to brush his front legs.

Knocking barrow over when full if not giving him any attention when mucking out.

Spitting water all over you when he gets in stable.

Attempting to walk whilst trying to pick out feet.

Being a pain in field and running away from anyone who tries to catch him if he is expected to come out before the other horses (trots up to gate to greet you if last out).

My mare used to fart in my face (I have no sense of smell so yah-boo to her!)
She tried a couple of times to poo on my head when I was picking out her back feet
She threw a clod of dirt at me when I went to catch her one day.
She was a flea-bitten grey and it snowed heavily one time, she was out in the field messing about - and I swear she was thinking nah nah nah nah nah you can't see me!!. I walked right up to her and she nearly fell over with fright. "You're wearing a bright green new zealand rug dear, I could see you a mile away". The puss on her face!

Nice to know how kind our horses am to us isnt it lol. I remember in the winter buddy being the pain he is decided he was going to run away from me (like usual) whilst in a big muddy field. I grabbed him...he ran...i ended up going face first in the mud!!!

Jo's last horse never missed the chance to knock over a wheel barrow,

Ice and Beau both steal rugs,

Beau will only tolerate cuddles if none of the other horses can see,

my old mare used to bite evryone except the blacksmith, she used to lick his bottom for the entire time he did her front feet!!

Hope licks the dog's nose if it licks hers

and if you raise your voice at Lottie, she will look you in the eye and tread on your foot, nothing will move her till you apologise for shouting at her.

My old Appy was always looking for ways to make herself laugh, if we joined in even better, but she really didn't mind if it was just her. She once crossed the bos diagnoally with a mouth full of water to deliberately drop it down the gap at my sisters waist band as she was bending down. She used to lift me up by my plait (ouch). She opened bolts and met us in the yard. She sneaked up behind you and snorted to make you jump. If you wouldn't let her get her head down to rub when riding, she would bring her foot up to her mouth. She also 'helped' my short legged friend to mount by pushing her bum with her nose as friend was half way on

Well I've only had my welsh boy for a couple of months but so far, he likes to meet me when I go to pick up his droppings in the field take out the scoop then push the wheel barrow over. If I leave him tied up to go and get something out of the tack room as soon as hears me go he puts his bum against the wall and starts to have a really good rub then when he hears me returnin ghe moves quickly away and pretends he hasn't been doing anything, the fact his tail is all over the place sort of gives the game away but the strangest thing I have seen him do is......he went out in the field and had a really good roll then rather than getting all the way up he raised his front legs so he was sitting just like a dog and then proceeded to spin himslef around on his bum...having been left in a filed for 9 years and left completely to his own devices I am sure I will see some more strange behaviour over the coming months....oh he can't help but pose for a camera as well....if there is one around he has to make sure he is looking at the person with it, no matter what else is going on around.

Ohh bedbug - that so spooky. My welshie (we lost him in March from colic) used to roll exactly the same way. I owned him for 20 years and must have said 100s of times "I must bring the camcorder down and record that - I could send it to You'be been framed", but you've guessed it - I never did.
Appreciate you lovely boy while you have him (and even record his funny moments).

Enjoy!!
