I am so pleased with my two youngsters, I just need to have a little self-indulgent post about it
Since I will need to move them soon I wanted to practice loading them in advance. I don't have my own transport but decided it was well worth paying a bit to have a trailer there for the evening.
It was so funny - they were both so excited and we did not need to do anything to get them on. We took the trailer into their field and let them investigate it - and the 4 year old who's only been on a box once before as far as I know, loaded herself with no encouragement at all! We had to hold her back until we had taken the partitions out etc, she was so curious... then just let her walk on in her own tempo on a slack lead, it took less than 2 minutes from the ramp was down to she was on. She was perfectly happy to move in and out, and to just stand still in the trailer checking out the interior...
G was super calm and a brilliant role model for the little one. CJ is a bouncy little 2 year old and was over excited about it all at first, bless, but when she settled down a bit she loaded and walked through the trailer nicely. And there was no need to use a lead rope to ask/encourage her, she was happy to follow in with G and better still, loaded on her own with me indicating for her to go in.
I am so grateful they are so sweet and trusting and that they make me smile every day
Hopefully we can keep loading and traveling being a positive experience for them. Next time we'll make it more challenging by closing the front ramp etc, great start though!
