Funny little things your horses do..?

Mysti gives kisses :D
She rolls up her top lip and attempts to kiss your face :p

Sooty will let himself out of any field or stable if possible, in the morning he waves his head around with his Tongue sticking out to get attention.
I used to keep him somewhere that had a padlock on the field gate. If he felt that I was taking too long, if it was wet he would grab a piece of overhanging bush and twang it so I got showered with water. If dry pick me up by the collor.
In the stable he will take a mouthful of water and dribble it down my neck given the chance. He pretends to be scared of something when you lead him in from the field, stops stares snorts so leader stops looks at what the monster is while pony nips leader on the bum and sniggers....the list goes on...
But I do get a kiss goodnight from him each night, it's a touch on my hand with his nose. No matter what he is doing he stops and says goodnight. I sooo love that pony

My boy throws his feed bucket (a flexitub) against the stable walls if you don't remove it quickly enough after he's had his dinner. He will also stand on it and turn it inside out. They usually only last about 6months with him!
He also always wants kisses -every day without fail. If he doesn't think he's had enough (even if he's had 20+) then he will bite onto my jacket/jumper and hold until he's had lots more kisses! He always neighs to me as soon as I get down to the yard too.

My youngster has started to undo zips on jackets (now he's got over the fright of the noise they make).

The old boy will nick bobble hats, and always wants his bum scratched. He's sent a fair few people running over the years as he will gallop full pelt at you in the field, then stop, spin and present his bum for scratching!

My boy who is sadly no longer with me would pick up water buckets, then drop them to soak anyone nearby. He used to play with buckets & milk crates in the fields. He also had to have hold of the lead-rope when I brought him in from the field. He would very carefully remove my scrunchy from my hair, never hurting me, drop the scrunchy into his bedding, and proceed to use his lips to give me an interesting new hairstyle full of slobber!

Many, many years ago when I was a small child and had a shetland pony - he would turn wheelbarrows upside down and then paw the wheel to spin it round, and he would do this for ages. He could also limbo through fences, undo bolts, knock slip-rails down and was generally a Houdini.

Loved them all for their quirks though :)

When I used to tack up my old share Horse in his stable, as soon as he saw me approaching with his tack he would walk to the back of the stable and bury his head in the straw as if to say "you can't tack me up, if you can't see me"

Tink does this.
She also stands at the gate and if I leave it unhooked, she'll throw it open and closed (got a video somewhere).
If hacking by herself, she stays on the road. If hacking with any other horses, she tries to duck into every driveway we pass.

First yard she was on - all horses come in when we open the gate. One day as they went to come past, bird scarer went off and they all shot back up the field. Tink was up the back and couldn't get passsed so she skipped through the gate into the other side, popped over a XC jump and came cantering down so she was first in. VERY proud of herself that day.

The last 10 minutes home on a hack, she will make faces at the other horse, if she is not in front by a full neck!

Beau grabs hold of the knot in his rope when you tie him up to groom him and chews it and swings off it like a dog (a very large 16.3 dog!) If he doesn't you know that is feeling under the weather.

In the mornings he always says hello by giving you a gentle bump with his head.

Regularly abuses his yellow feed bowl.

Stands in his shelter in the field and refuses to leave till you give him his chaff.

If you are late in the mornings he stands at the back of his stable looking out the window and won't 'speak' to you.. Not by some much as a flick of an ear or glance will he acknowledge your presence, grooming tacking up the same, you have to bribe him with carrots to get him to 'talk' agian.
He once sulked till after I'd ridden and was giving him a handful of grain - it is really weird to ride a horse thats doing his job but otherwise giving you the cold shoulder...

If you scratch in between my ponys front legs she will groom your face with her top lip and yesterday she did it to my sister and accidentally (on purpose) bit her!!
She is also quite greedy but if i mix her carrots into her feed she will eat around them and save them til last yet if they have just been place in she will eat them first! and its not as if there buried because she only gets 2 handfuls of happy hoof!
She also puts a REALLY sad face on when you tack her up and as soon as you go to put her bridle on she puts her head down and just lets it hang as if she is sniffing the floor yet its blatantly obvious she isnt and if you tack her up out of the stable, the minute you take the headcollar off to put her bridle on she starts walking back to her stable as if to say "no mum not today thanks!" :D !!!
