Went up to the field today to see Hemir and noticed that he had a lump on his belly. I told him to stand and felt the lump it was hard and about 5cm diameter and 2cm depth (if the makes sense?!) THe skin all around was scaly and peeling off (not sure how to describe it properly

) He wasn't in any pain when i touched it and was perfectly fine walking and trotting about.

I checked that there wasn't a tick in there as he has a couple of little lumpsfrom ticks (this was my first thought) but there wasn't anything in there. Then checked for a wound, again nothing...So im now a little puzzled, maybe he kicked himself when trying to rub a fly off??

There snothing else wong with him and he seems himself other than the fac hes bored because he's lame

ETS: its behind his ribcage in the middle, between 10 and 20cm away from his willy ( i think)

hi it could be a hernia! lol my horse has a hernia from when he was younger and it is underneath his belly and dosent hurt when pushed! your horses lump sounds exactly like my horses! they are harmless and not very many people notice them!

Is it round or tubelike? If it is tubelike (short cucumber shaped) then it is fly-bites. Rub some yellow Summer Cream for Fly Strike on it and it will cool it down and stop the itching.

If it is round then I think the photos might help diagnose it.
