Anyone know what this could be?

I noticed it a couple of days ago, a small fairly flat lump about 2p piece size on the side of his cheek. More noticeable when he is brought in from the field. It is soft and he shows no pain when I squish it. Odd! Any ideas? Or keep an eye on it and if it starts to hurt/gets bigger get the vet out?

Sorry for the very poor photo - the end of his bottom eye lashes point to the lump if you can see it?

And a proper photo of the handsome chap :D

My cob had something similar a couple of years ago started small and then got bigger (took maybe a week or so). I did finish up getting the vet out, by which time tbh it was more the size of half a tennis ball - his was a little further down his cheek. His was an abcess, had to apply a hot towel twice a day - took a few weeks to burst though. When did yours last have teeth checked? - his had been checked and floated 6 weeks or so previous. Never found out exactly what caused it. But full recovery and no problems since. And his didnt hurt eitherxx hope you get sorted:):)

Thanks for the reply. He is due to have his done at Easter so perhaps I should get them done soon. Thanks for the heads up :)

Horse on our yard recently(in last 5wks) had similar. His lump was in same place as yrs but bigger(half a fist size). Squishy but not moveable. Not tender or hot. Was there at bring in in afternoon but gone by turnout time in am. Happened again about 2wks later. Was drainage of fluid from lymph system(obv there are 'channels' underneath skin where u can't see/wouldn't expect to be). He sometimes has 'hamster' or grass cheeks too-is seasonal &associated with grass changes. Came up worse if he was fed hay from floor(draining downwards from lymph behind jawbone towards cheeks!)Was nothing to worry about in him. Hope same for yr horse:)

This does sound very possible. The lump certainly wasn't as noticeable this morning and he has been getting impressive hamster cheeks this week and he has his hay on the floor! Thanks for your reply x
