Furious! How can people be so rude!

I'm spitting feathers. Went to view a horse yesterday, sounded lovely and had a long chat on the phone. It was an hour away from me, so about as far as i want to travel.

Turned up a wee bit early and gave the seller a ring. She wasn't at the yard as her car had broken down. Very apologetic to me, fair enough these things happen. Rearranged to go again this morning, and guess what

SHE DIDN'T SHOW UP AGAIN!!!!!

Rang her and left a message, waited 15 minutes then gave it up as a bad job and came home.

So i have spent four hours driving and not even seen a horse.

Haven't heard from her but needless to say I won't be going over there again.

Aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh

I hate horse hunting!!!
 
That is ridiculous I would be furious too, how stupid. Why would the lady advertise the horse if she isn't interested in selling it.

Rudeness unfortunately seems to be the norm these days, what an awful thing to do, especially as everyone has mobile phones these days but I think because most people just text, email etc, they have lost the ability to actually speak to people and because of that somehow think they can get away with being selfish and rude. Her loss if she is trying to sell or it could be she has sold already and couldn't be bothered to let you know!
 
You do get some strange people.
When I was looking for a yard a while back I emailed a lady several times about a yard she has space on, sounded perfect. Arranged to go and see it, couldnt find it, so gave her a ring. She answered the first time and when I said who I was, hung up. Proceeded to ring and text - nothing. Went home and emailed, never heard from her again. Can only imagine it was a hoax - but why she would do this when it made no money is beyond me!
It's so annoying when you've lost time and money isn't it!
 
Didn't happen when horse hunting - but did when house hunting.

Got the paperwork and searches etc all done to the point of only requiring the sellers signature.

Months we waited - no sign of her signing despite house visits (she'd sit in a chair and ignore the door)...

She never did sign - and completely ignored us, so we retracted our offer,lost several £100 - apparently we were the 7th couple to try buy the place but the estate agents failed to tell us this BEFORE we started down the line of buying... We bought another house and actually preferred it to hers, so she did us an expensive favour!

So I wish you luck, the right horse with a less rude seller is bound to turn up.
 
I would be fuming! How inconsiderate! She could of just txt you to let you know that maybe she's got someone else lined up for the horse/changed her mind about selling. It's normally buyers that don't turn up not the sellers! If you had already driven there and were at the yard I would have gone on the yard and see if there was anyone about especially the second time. See if anyone knows the lady and said horse. Sometimes makes me think people get a kick out of wasting other people's time making out they have a horse for sale when they haven't at all.

When I was looking for my horse I never had a situation where the owner didn't turn up so i'm hoping this is quite rare and not a common thing people have started to do now. The thing is theres nothing you can really do to ensure the seller is genuine and will turn up. I imagine thats put you off looking further a field but try to have some faith keep looking and you will find the right one. Good luck on the search :)
 
If that had been me I would have offered to pick her up from her house as her car was broken down. You'd soon have known if she was lying about that because she would have needed to find an excuse for you not to go round. It wuld have alerted you to other thing too maybe.

We did it house hunting in France. The estate agent said she didn't have a car so we offered to pick her up only to find a car in the drive. She then said she couldn't drive but we bought a house in the same village as her and saw her driving on a regualr basis!

Anyway, I think you're better off not buying that horse. If she's been dubious about meeting you, what else is there to be concerned about??
 
I'd have been livid at the waste of time and the cost of the fuel wasted. Okay an emergency can happen to anyone but twice in a row? Nah.
