Does anyone know where I can find a photo of Furisto? He is Hanoverian and stood in Ireland until his death. He is the sire of one of my horses and having searched the internet high and low just cannot track one down. I keep photographic pedigrees of all my breeding mares and offspring (horse geek that I am) and would love to have a pic of him. Thank You....

He actually stood in Cheshire for the earlier part of his career and was imported into the UK by Marie Smith as a 2 year old becoming the actual first stallion ever graded by the then BWBS so had the reg number WH1 with them. He competed to quite a high level in showjuming but had fertility problems for much of the time that he was at stud in England (due to a back injury) but seemed to get that sorted out when he got to Ireland.

In the UK he sired a BWBS-graded son Finale (bred by Debbie Wallin) who stood near Bath for a while and was then sold to Warwickshire College as a 16 year old to stand at stud there. Unfortunately he found being looked after by a different set of students every few weeks very hard to take so was gelded (!) and sold as a a riding horse at age 17.

I remember Finale when I was a student at Warwickshire (many years ago!). I always remember him as being very level natured & don't recall him being a problem to handle at all. When he 'disappeared' I don't remember any real explanation being given but did hear one or two rumours, one being connected to health problems, tho' don't recall what. I did hear later that he had been gelded.

Thank you all so much for the info, I am delighted with it. What a pity about Finale. Most stallions prefer consistency so Im sure it was very different for him moving to an environment like the college - poor boy to be gelded so late.

My Danish Warmblood is by Andiamo, so Furioso II (Furisto's sire) would be his great-grandsire
