furminator

I have one for my cats. It really works, clouds of loose fur comes out. Much better than a comb or shedding for weeks all over the house.

Maybe I've got funny ponies, but I found that not all horses will tolerate furminators. Both the Welsh and Shetland loathe them - whether it's the action of the blades or the fact the blade is straight rather than curved like a shedding blade I don't know. Both the ponies have very full but very fine-haired coats - on another pony with coarser hair it worked brilliantly.

I bought one at great expense! They just seem to be a clipper blade on a handle.

It does work well but I also found that it could cut the ends of hair off! Not a good look if you are showing.

I have returned to using a hacksaw blade as this is less inclined to go so deep into the coat. Shorter teeth - I just wrap some electrical tape around the first couple of inches at each end to make it easier to hold.

They are fantastic. I use it on my 3 horses which are Welsh section B, a cobxtb ad a gypsy cob. It fetches the hair out loads better than a shedding blade, which i also have.
I've never had a problem of it cutting the hair.

Beware of cheap imitations as they aren't nearly as good as the real thing. The horse ones are about £40 so I got a large dog one and its exactly that same only 1 inch smaller.

They are fabulous and work as equally well on my yak pones as they do on my arab.

I have a lincoln copy of the furminator, and whilst I've never had the opportunity to try the real thing, I love my lincoln copy, for £15 they're worth every penny.

Stroppy Mare - I also have the Lincoln copy, and agree it is good but it isn't as good a the real thing but is a reasonable copy :) .

I recommended them to a friend who ended up getting a cheap copy of the furminator from eBay and it tore and dragged at the hair.

Why oh why did I click on the adult section :o

Moving on... has anyone used the cat version?

I have a imitation of this (looks nearly identical, but mine has a wider toothed thing on the other side as well) for my cat - NOTHING works apart from it. Have used on both long and shorthairs.

I did not click on the Adult section... but my, what an odd assortment of stuff being sold on the one website!?

iIve got the horse version and the cat version, both originals. They work brilliantly, particularly on the hairier of the beasts. My medium coated mog loses masses of underfur and the furminator makes her look half the cat she was.

I have both the horse and cat ones and are amazing.....I do have the older style tho (had the horse one about 4 years) the handle broke after a couple of years but I use daily this time of year on all 5 horses....the new style seem to have a metal handle so I'm guessing it was a common fault
Really do need to replace it lol

LOVE IT.
Ive had mine 3/4 years now and swear by it, it really does shift the hair, I couldnt do with out mine now come sheading season. x

Why on earth would a website be selling chastity devices and horse de-furers.

Can the defurminator be used for other things!
