As title, since my mare went on loan I'd love to have a few lessons to brush up my skills but don't have the first clue where to start looking.

I don't want to walk, trot and canter in circles for an hour, I'd like to ride a horse schooled to a decent level which can teach me something. I am willing to travel for something special like lessons on a schoolmaster.

Can anyone make any recommendations of places worth going to? I am in Kent, but willing to travel to a degree.

The yard I ride at has a very large range of horses. I use to work there and the horse are great.
they have your normal novice types, but also more challenging horses that are used for the students etc. They have an ex-eventer (who likes to show you how its done, even if its not what you want to be doing!) an ex-dressage pro and a few other babies, that go really well with the more experienced rider.
My instructor teaches leg yield, shoulder in, counter canter, flying changes etc and its all great fun! We don't just follow the one in front, we all work in open order, and she lets us warm the horses up our selves.
The yard is near Southend, Essex though, so maybe too far?

Hi, thanks for replies.

Essex is probably too far for me unfortunately. I have heard very mixed reports about Oldencraig... if anyone has been and can give me their opinion I'd appreciate it.

How about Callum Park? I don't have any experience myslef but a friend rides there who is a good rider so they obviosuly must cater to her standard. I briefly saw a lesson there the other day and they were doing an exercise jumping on a circle - looked fun and the horses looked nice. some kick alongs, some not.
