My pony has got his beard, and when brushing him today, his winter fluff is defiantly comming in :(

I really hope we do not get another one like last year :(

However a White Christmas would be nice again, a week before and after will do me just fine :)

Okay, I say nothing....

I've had my old gal for 21 years and I have to say she's beginning her winter coat much earlier than she ever has, but I think this is more to do with the rotten weather we've had of late, rather than the winter that is to come...at least I hope so!!

its going to be sunny and fairly warm until xmas eve - then when they are tucked up in stables - snow will fall just in time for xmas day, then come boxing day its sunny and warm!

I dont want the winter.bad memories.

Sounds good to me !!!! :) Don't think my little car will make another tough winter :( had to abandon it half way down the track last year and carry all the fresh water bottles as all the taps were frozen. I looked like Popeye come February lol :p

Winter doesn't officially start until December 21st/22nd (Winter Solstice) anything before that is Fall as far as I am concerned and that's what I am sticking to :D:p

Our trees have started turning and it's actually chilly enough to have to wear long sleeves in the morning and evening now. We are still averaging 26C during the day and dropping to about 12-16C through the night so it is cooling down a bit now. The horses are all changing their coats now too.

Dreading winter....ours has Cushings and preferably needs to get out and about every day to keep moving either for a walk or in the field - the snow isn't TOO bad but we had wicked ice last year - even the tractor couldn't cope on it and everything came to a standstill, no turnout, couldn't even get the horses outside their stables until late January time, it was a nightmare.
I'm really quite worried about how she will go on....she isn't a horse that DOES boxrest lol.

Hate to burst your bubble but mine have had winter coats coming through for some weeks now, they are at the fluffy stage AND our swallows have gone South. Brace yourself! lol ;)

Enfys, we are maxing between 15-19C daytime temps and 6C at night at the moment in the far north Scotland, August? I think we are in for another cold one unless September hits hot, it's more like October!

Persuade YO to let you muck out onto the yard. A good thick layer of dirty straw does what grit and salt can't and makes ice safe. I was on a big yard of over seventy horses, we had lots of ice and we got every single one of them out every single day last year for turnout and yardwalking. Mind you, clearing up when the ice and snow melted was not fun.

Don't mention winter... All it's done here is rain, rain, rain!! Already have mud fever, dreading the winter now. Think I am going to swap horses for swamp monsters!

Can you send some over to me, I know your pain, Northumberland can be a damp place at times - really hoping we don't get another hard winter like last year
