My mare has decided that she will not eat her alfa a with out something else in it. For the last couple of days I have been mixing it with my competition horses sugar beat but I really don't want to keep doing this as she is over weight at the moment as I can not ride her. She has to have her feed cause she is on bute, does anyone know of anything I can feed her or mix in to her alfa a that isn't too fattening.

Why dont you just give a very small amount of beet without the alfa a if she does not need much, the bute will mix easily in a tiny amount.

will it not make her gain weight? She looks like she is carrying twins and she has a grass muzzle on! I am more concerned that she is going to gain hideous amounts of weight on it!

A tablespoon full won't make much difference weight wise, especially if you leave out the alfa a.
